Job summary

UL Solutions in Northbrook, IL seeks an experienced Project Manager to lead the implementation of small to medium projects, provide leadership to the project team, and serve as the front-line contact for project activities, issues, and risks.

You will manage project risks and communications, interface with finance to develop ROI/IRR metrics, and ensure governance and cascading responsibilities are followed throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • More than four years of project management experience.
  • Experience with project/portfolio management tools (Visio, MS Project, Clarity).
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, business or related field; PMP/Prince2/Agile certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the implementation of small to medium projects.
  • Provides overall leadership and support to project team members.
  • Acts as front-line contact on project related activities, issues, and risks.
  • Manages the project risks and issues and escalates accordingly.
  • Interfaces with Business Unit Leaders, and with Finance and develops ROI, IRR and other financial measures.
  • Manages stakeholders' communication and escalates accordingly.
  • Adheres to program and project governance (controls).
  • Plans the overall project and monitors the progress and performs Daily project management throughout the project's life cycle.
  • Manages the projects budget and financial performance.
  • Coordinates the projects and their interdependencies.
  • Manages and utilizes resources.
  • Aligns the deliverables (outputs) to the project's outcome with the aid of the business change manager.
  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
  • Performs other duties as directed.

  • Strong project management and team leadership skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with sponsor reporting and escalation experience.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong facilitation, collaboration, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to anticipate risks and devise solutions in the moment.
  • Focused and versatile team player who is comfortable under pressure, ambiguity, frequent change, or unpredictability.
  • Understand current and future business goals and ongoing IT issues to ensure business success.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycles (i. e. Agile, SCRUM, Waterfall, Iterative).
  • In depth understanding of project management concepts.
Experience
  • More than four years of project management experience.
  • Experience working on project and portfolio management Tools (Visio, MS Project, Clarity, etc.).
EDUCATION
  • Bachelors' degree in computer science, information technology, business or related field PMP, Prince 2 and/or Agile certification (preferred but not required).
Total Rewards:

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated salary range for this position is $XX- $XX and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of X% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. We also provide full-time employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday and personal days (totaling 12 days), and sick time off (72 hours).
