ACCO Engineered Systems seeks a Project Manager, Mission Critical, to lead HVAC and critical facilities projects from concept through completion, often in remote locations with budgets from $80–$500 million. You will coordinate cross-functional teams and manage vendor, client, and internal relationships to ensure on-time delivery and adherence to financial targets.

Travel is expected 5–45% and flexibility on work location is required.

  • Oversees finances, tracks costs, billing, forecasting and budget control.
  • Schedules client reviews, kickoff meetings and internal project meetings.
  • Manages documentation and change orders, protecting business interests.

Job description

Job Summary:

The Project Manager, Mission Critical is expected to manage or co-manage projects in the $80-$500 million range, often at remote locations with heavy emphasis on client product speed-to-market. They are expected to be generally flexible with regard to work location, although preferred locations may be considered at the time of assignment. The Project Manager will use judgment and discretion in representing the company. They are expected to show a high level of commitment and involvement with their work and the company's business as well as develop client relationships at all levels of the product, positioning ACCO for follow-up work with adjacent or similar project opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serves as the single point of contact and responsibility for both ACCO and the customer throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manages the complete contract lifecycle from concept engineering, estimating, and written proposals to procurement, execution, and successful job completion.
  • Provides leadership and coordinates internal staff across all departments, including Engineering, Purchasing, Accounting, Construction, and Service.
  • Oversee financial management by tracking job costs, handling billing, forecasting, and controlling expenses within budget limits.
  • Directs field labor coordination and installation sequencing between the customer and ACCO field leadership.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with external clients, vendors, subcontractors, and industry partners as well as internal Management and Department Heads.
  • Schedules and leads essential project meetings, including client reviews, construction kickoffs, and internal sales and construction meetings.
  • Protects business and legal interests by managing documentation, including letters, proposals, memos, contracts, and change orders.
  • Mentors, recruits, trains, and coaches assigned staff and sales team members to support department initiatives and growth.
  • Participates in special studies, committees, and other duties directed by management to advance ACCO's technical abilities and goals.
Position Requirements (Work Experience, Skills, Licenses, etc.):
  • Ability to operate independently, autonomously, and with a high sense of integrity to achieve goals outlined by management.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills to successfully balance and resolve a high volume of issues.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to identify and develop new business opportunities.
  • Commitment to maintaining an active presence in industry-based or community organizations.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
Education and Experience:

Required:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in estimating, design, and/or management of HVAC projects from $20 million to $500+ million.
  • A valid Class C driver's license and ability to drive a vehicle.

Desired:

  • Experience in Business Systems Software (JDE, IFS, BidTracer, FastEst, Bluebeam, Box, Smartsheet, etc.).

Travel Requirements:

Travel required 5-45% of the time to other office locations and job sites.

Hours:

This is an exempt position. Workdays are scheduled from Monday through Friday. Typically, work hours begin and end between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm as scheduled with the position's supervisor. Work outside of regular hours may occasionally be necessary to meet business needs.

Competitive Wages:

$123,782.40 to $165,043.20 annually. Applicants please note that actual compensation is determined by several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications, relevant education or training, and specific work location, among others. The offered wage or salary is only one aspect of an employee's total compensation.
