Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead commercial HVAC/mechanical construction projects. You will coordinate multiple jobs, mentor engineers, partner with field staff, and drive on-time, on-budget delivery.

You will manage project milestones, forecast financials, apply Lean principles, and develop long-term client relationships. The role requires a strong technical background in building systems and a proven ability to lead diverse teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management; 7–10+ years in related field.
• Experience with MEP firm managing multiple MEP projects.
• Experience with Design/Build and IPD project experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with Lean Construction tools is a plus.
• Experience on data centers, federal work, industrial and/or healthcare is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, mechanical, piping) and how they work.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to a single large project or multiple projects under Senior PMs and Project Engineers.
• Collaborate with craftsman, foreman and owner as we self-perform work.
• Plan mechanical projects from start to finish with understanding of moving parts.
• Apply LEAN principles to deliver owner expectations.

Position Summary

Our Project Managers are experienced in commercial HVAC and Mechanical Construction and like the challenge of unique designs, projects and deadlines. You will be able to run jobs big and small, coordinating multiple jobs simultaneously, while also providing leadership to project engineers and partnering with our field staff to ensure flawless project delivery. You will also manage project milestones, identifying and coordinating resource requirements. One of the most important skills sets you possess is the ability to exercise a high level of judgment and work autonomously within company processes. You are willing to learn the Southland way of doing work and are eager to learn from others at all levels of the organization. The experience you have allows you to have a short learning curve, but does not present a barrier to learning new things. Position Details

• Provide support to a single large project or multiple projects being managed by a Senior Project Managers and Project Engineers
• We do self-performing work, so you'll need to work with craftsman, foreman and the owner
• You’ll help plan out mechanical projects from start to finish with an understanding of all of the moving parts involved and what it takes to manage the process
• You’ll utilize your LEAN principles and have a keen understanding of what the owner wants and how we can deliver it
• You’ll play a key role in managing the financials and making sure the project stays on track
• You’ll continually develop and nurture customer relationships beyond a single project – at Southland, we value customers for life.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management, 7-10+ years experience in related field.
• Experience working at a MEP firm managing multiple MEP projects
• Experience with Design/Build and IPD project experience is considered a plus
• Familiarity and/or experience with Lean Construction tools considered a plus
• Experience working on data centers, federal work, industrial and/or healthcare is a plus!
• You have a strong knowledge of building systems, HVAC, mechanical, piping, including design, construction, and how these systems work

• You have the ability to think outside the box and lead the team in driving innovative construction techniques and prefabrication strategies.
