Job summary

LJA Land Development is seeking a Project Manager to lead engineering efforts across residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial land development projects. You will interpret, organize, and coordinate engineering work, ensuring quality and compliance across multiple project types.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, a PE license, and at least 8 years of progressive design and project management experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineering license (PE) required.
  • Minimum 8 years’ progressive design and project management experience.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD Civil3D.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate projects from inception to completion, including planning and permitting.
  • Budgeting, scheduling, and coordination of outside consultants.
  • Prepare and oversee civil design for site geometry, grading, drainage, roads, water and sewer.
  • Develop design drawings, technical specifications, reports, and cost estimates.
  • Analyze technical information and perform engineering calculations.
  • Author due diligence, feasibility, design reports, and memos.
  • Provide technical support through all project stages.
  • Serve as Engineer of Record for various projects.
  • Prepare and participate in client meetings and presentations.
  • Mentor project engineers and design technicians.

POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Project Manager at LJA Land Development, you will be responsible for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating engineering for a wide variety of land development projects including residential, commercial, institutional, industrial, resort, recreation, infrastructure, and attraction of various types and sizes, some of which may have unique or controversial conditions.


A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:


  • Project coordination from inception to completion, including due diligence, planning, entitlements, civil engineering design, regulatory permitting and approvals through local, state, and federal permitting agencies and construction administration support.

  • Project management tasks including budgeting, scheduling, coordination of outside consultants, project tracking and project billing.

  • Preparing and overseeing civil engineering design for site geometry, grading, drainage, roadway, water distribution, wastewater collection/transmission, parks, and other civil improvements.

  • Preparing and overseeing development of design drawings, technical specifications, reports, cost estimates and other project deliverables.

  • Analyzing technical information, performing engineering calculations, and advancing design concepts into effective and financially feasible engineering designs.

  • Authoring technical reports such as due diligence reports, feasibility reports, design reports, and technical memoranda

  • Providing technical support throughout all project stages from request for proposal through final design and construction.

  • Serving as Engineer of Record for various projects and/or project tasks.

  • Preparing and participating in client meetings and presentations.

  • Providing leadership and guidance for project engineers and design technicians.


REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related engineering field.

  • Professional Engineering license.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Minimum 8 years’ progressive experience in design and management of land development projects.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

  • Highly organized with good time management skills.

  • Sufficient familiarity with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD Civil3D,
