Job summary

HGA in San Francisco, CA seeks a Project Manager for our Interior Design practice to lead multidisciplinary teams through design and delivery, guiding projects from concept to completion and serving as a trusted partner to clients and project teams.

You will manage scope, schedule, budget, and client expectations, foster collaboration with designers, architects, and consultants, and contribute to growth of our Science & Technology practice through leadership and exceptional service.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field from an accredited program.
  • 7 to 10 years of professional interior design experience including Project Management.
  • NCIDQ or CID accreditation strongly preferred.
  • Proven leadership and project management skills with a track record of delivering projects.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both team members and clients.
  • Ability to oversee all aspects of project delivery, ensuring timely and quality results.
  • Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, and other industry software; strong MS Office skills.

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our San Francisco Interior Design practice, where you’ll collaborate with award-winning designers, architects, and thought leaders to deliver innovative environments that inspire discovery, connection, and performance.

As a Project Manager, you will play a key leadership role in guiding projects from concept through completion while serving as a trusted advisor to clients and project teams.


You will:



  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams through all phases of design and delivery.

  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and client expectations.

  • Foster collaboration among designers, architects, consultants, and stakeholders.

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a trusted strategic partner.

  • Support the pursuit of design excellence while ensuring project performance and quality.

  • Contribute to the growth of our Science & Technology practice through exceptional service and leadership.


In this role you will:


  • Collaborate with industry professionals in evaluation of project requirements and help to negotiate an acceptable owner-architect agreement including the fee and time schedule.

  • Demonstrate task-focused mastery of project scope, profitability, schedule and budget.

  • Complete projects on schedule, within budget and with maximum client satisfaction.

  • Negotiate critical issues with top-level architects, engineers and officials of other organizations and firms.

  • Utilize experience and technical knowledge and monitor quality of the construction documents keeping in mind schedules/budgets and provide coaching/communication as appropriate with team leaders and/or team members who are responsible for workflow/timelines, etc.

  • Develop discipline cost and work-hour budgets for each project and monitor project costs, completion status against budget schedules/timelines.

  • Oversee all correspondence and pertinent documents, making sure they are accurate, sign or obtain signatures and seek legal counsel as appropriate.

  • Coordinate review and evaluation of contractor bids and work with Principal so that award recommendation can be submitted to owner.

  • Provide day-to-day leadership in the absence of and as delegated by the Principal, Practice Group Leader and/or Department Leader keeping lines of communication open with all office management leaders and assist with preparation of client billings prior to submittal for signature.

  • Collaborate with the senior leadership as requested in the marketing of projects including development of proposals and participation in client interviews.

  • Set an example for team effort through the spirit of cooperation and collaboration while directing, organizing, coaching and mentoring junior staff.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


What you will need to have:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field from an accredited program.

  • 7 to 10 years of professional experience in interior design, including prior Project Management experience.

  • NCIDQ or CID accreditation strongly preferred.

  • Proven leadership and project management skills with a track record of successfully delivering projects.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both team members and clients.

  • Ability to oversee and be responsible for all aspects of project delivery, ensuring timely and quality results.

  • Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, and other industry-standard software, alongside expertise in Microsoft Office products.


Salary Information:

The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA’s robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs. Salary Range: $115,000 to $132,200 depending on qualifications and experience.
