Job summary

Veolia Water Technology is seeking a field service engineer to maintain and repair water treatment equipment in and around Boise, Idaho. You will manage spare parts inventory, perform mechanical, electrical, and controls troubleshooting, and support customer operations.

You will work with engineering teams, prepare reports, provide quick quotes, and travel across North America as needed. A Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years in water treatment are required; passport and driver's license are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma with 5+ years in water treatment.
  • Strong focus on customer relationships with VEOLIA teams.
  • Knowledge of RO/ED, Ion Exchange and Thermal technologies.
  • Independent and remote work with project teams.
  • Know structural, mechanical, hydraulics, electrical, piping, welding, civil.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid passport; ability to travel 10% across North America.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain on-site and off-site spare parts inventory; ensure supply of chemicals and parts.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and controls on equipment.
  • Determine and track root cause failures; document via quality process.
  • Create site paperwork; write weekly warranty service reports and summaries.
  • Provide timely responses to parts, operation services, and technical issues.
  • Troubleshoot issues, perform emergency repairs, and provide quotes.
  • Manage relationships with client operators and facility engineers; consult with teams.
  • Serve as liaison between site, Customer Operations, Veolia offices and engineering.
  • Collaborate with engineering for technical support; RO/ED retrofits, process engineering.
  • Research problems and engage experts for quick technical solutions.
  • Provide preventative maintenance; develop and update maintenance plans.
  • Perform daily site walks to schedule Preventive Maintenance.
  • Coordinate with trades on Veolia scope and installation of water technologies.
  • Organize and schedule team members, field operations, vendors on-site.
  • Ensure contract compliance of volume and quality specifications.
  • Provide construction and commissioning support for projects.
  • Daily reporting to the ES NAM Field Operations Manager.

Job Description
  • Maintain on-site and off-site inventory of spare parts and ensure an adequate supply of chemicals and replacement parts.
  • Carry out mechanical, electrical and controls troubleshooting on equipment such as valves, air compressors, ejectors, process pumps, blowers, and instrumentation.
  • Determine and track root cause failures of all Veolia equipment, ensuring issues are documented using Veolia’s quality process.
  • Create and maintain site paperwork, write weekly warranty service reports on site actions, and provide customers with detailed technical summaries of work performed.
  • Provide timely, proactive response to customer needs pertaining to parts replacement, operation services, and technical issues related to plant operations.
  • Troubleshoot issues, perform emergency repairs, and provide quick turnaround quotes for equipment and spares.
  • Manage relationships with client operators and facility engineers, and consult with customer management and operation teams.
  • Act as a liaison and facilitate direct communication between the site/Customer Operations, Veolia home offices, and the engineering team.
  • Work with the engineering team in the office for technical expertise (i.e., RO pump retrofit program, process engineering support, etc.).
  • Carry out research to identify problems and engage the right people who can provide quick technical solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Provide preventative maintenance and services to the client to supplement the operations team, understand and develop Veolia preventative maintenance procedures and plans, and track, recommend, and update these procedures.
  • Complete daily site walks to schedule Preventive Maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate with on-site trades regarding the Veolia scope of work, and coordinate trades for the installation of any/all water technologies.
  • Organize and schedule team members, field operations teams, suppliers, or vendors to be on-site in contractual time to perform maintenance or complete on-site activities.
  • Ensure contract compliance of volume and quality specifications.
  • Provide construction and commissioning support for ongoing projects.
  • Responsible for daily reporting to the ES NAM Field Operations Manager.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the Water Treatment field.
  • Strong focus on customer relationships (both external and internal customers). Understand the balance between customer and VEOLIA teams.
  • Knowledge of and/or demonstrated ability to learn equipment and process startup related to VEOLIA WTS products and systems including but not limited to RO/ED, Ion Exchange and Thermal technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and remotely with project teams.
  • Possess basic water treatment chemistry knowledge and communicate that information to others.
  • Must know structural, mechanical, hydraulics, electrical, piping, welding specifics and civil notations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid passport.
  • Ability to travel (10%) throughout North America
  • Valid driver's license.
Desired Characteristics
  • Experience in Commissioning, Construction or Services.
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Equivalent from an accredited University or College.
  • Mechanical experience and know-how (hands on, reading and interpreting drawings, etc.), particularly with water treatment equipment (pumps, valves, instrumentation, relief valves, regulators, pneumatic systems, etc.).
  • Electrical experience and know-how (hands on, reading and interpreting drawings, etc.), particularly with electrical panels and water treatment equipment.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new problems, clients, and situations.
  • Training in Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures preferred.
  • is (RO) systems, Ion Exchange Systems, Hot Water Loops and EDI.
