Job summary

DBI Construction Consultants LLC is seeking a Project Manager II – Roofing & Building Envelope to lead complex roofing and building envelope projects, from initiation to completion, with strong client service and adherence to schedules and budgets.

The role requires deep technical expertise in roofing and building envelope systems, plus the ability to provide expert testimony and manage multidisciplinary teams. On-site work at Inverness, IL is expected five days a week, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural Engineering or related field is required.
  • Five to seven years of experience in roofing & building envelope design, review, consulting, inspections and assessments.
  • Credentials such as IIBEC, ITC, RRC, RWC, REWC, RBEC are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead investigations involving roofing, waterproofing, exterior wall systems, windows, curtain walls, and other building enclosure systems.
  • Manage complex forensic, insurance, litigation support, and building envelope projects from assignment through final deliverables.
  • Provide expert testimony, depositions, and technical support when required.
  • Review technical reports, codes, repair recommendations, cost estimates, and deliverables for quality and DBI standards.

In a complex industry, the company’s mission is to bring clarity to every client served by DBI through hard evidence, expertise, and accuracy.What is the role?The Project Manager II – Roofing & Building Envelope is an experienced consulting professional responsible for managing complex roofing and building envelope assignments from initiation through successful completion.This role provides technical expertise in roofing and building envelope systems while delivering exceptional client service, ensuring quality project execution, and maintaining adherence to project schedules, budgets, and performance expectations.This position offers a competitive salary range of $110,000.00 - $135,000.00 plus competitive healthcare benefits, 401k match and twice-annual bonus potential. The position will be on-site 5 days a week out of our Inverness, IL office.What You’ll DoPartner with the Practice Leader to drive continual growth of the division by developing new client relationships, expanding existing accounts, and identifying new market opportunities.Lead investigations involving roofing, waterproofing, exterior wall systems, windows, curtain walls, and other building enclosure systems.Manage complex forensic, insurance, litigation support, and building envelope consulting projects from assignment through final deliverables.Demonstrate technical expertise in roofing & building envelope systems and forensic investigations.Ability to determine building components such as roofing, waterproofing, facade elements, facade coating, and glazing.Strong knowledge of common roofing systems and related building envelope assemblies.Understand construction practices in commercial, residential and industrial buildings.Provide expert testimony, depositions, and technical support when required.Review technical reports, local building codes, repair recommendations, cost estimates, and project deliverables to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to DBI standards.Proven experience leading teams and managing complex projects simultaneously.Passion for hiring, workshops, mentoring and developing talented professionals.Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for key clients, consistently delivering exceptional service and long-term relationship management.What you BringBachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural Engineering or related field from an accredited university is required.Five (5) to Seven (7) years of experience in roofing & building envelope design, review, consulting, inspections and assessments.Recognized industry credentials such as, International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC), Drone Pilot & Certified Thermographer (ITC), Registered Roof Consultant (RRC), Registered Waterproofing Consultant (RWC), and/or Registered Exterior Wall Consultant (REWC), Registered Building Enclosure Consultant (RBEC) are a plus.Strong client relationships from the legal and property insurance industry.Expertise in building structural systems, building envelope systems, water infiltration investigations, and building failure investigations.Proficient in writing and editing project specifications and technical reports.Must be comfortable working at heights, climbing ladders to access roofs, structures, and other elevated areas.Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.Possess a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.Why DBITop-tier boutique consulting firm approaching 25 years of business.A team focused culture grounded in clarity, integrity, and client connection.Meaningful, technically challenging work that influences major insurance and legal outcomes.Opportunity to shape team standards, mentor team members, and impact business initiatives.WORKING CONDITIONS:Our business requires work to be performed at the site of the property damage, including locations where disasters or catastrophes have previously occurred. During busy periods, this may require evening, overnight, and/or weekend travel and work.Our teams are packed with safety gear and PPE as they may be subject to, but not limited to: outdoor extreme heat, cold, and precipitation; indoor noise, vibrations, proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:The team member may be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, or feel, especially in the course of investigating and assessing property damage; these requirements may include the need to lift weights of up to 50 pounds, including a ladder.The work requires close visual acuity, with or without correction, to prepare reports containing words, symbols, and numerical figures; the incumbent is required to view a computer terminal, use a keyboard, read printed documents, make detailed visual inspections, perceive color, perceive depth, and have a sufficient field of vision to carry out all inspection and related duties.Willingness to travel on average of +/-20% of the workweek to accommodate meetings, as well as attend other work-related activities that may be scheduled outside of normal daytime business hours.
