Job summary

RiseMe seeks a Parks & Recreation Project Manager I to lead park design initiatives in Atlanta, reporting to the Director of Park Planning and Design. You will manage projects from concept to completion, coordinating internal staff and external consultants within the program management plan.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s in a related field and 3–5 years of design and construction experience, including budget and schedule development, with strong AutoCAD and design skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Urban Planning, Civil/Structural Engineering, MEP Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 3–5 years in design and construction on small to medium-scale programs.
• License: Valid Georgia Driver’s License.
• Five years PM experience and two years supervisory experience (preferred).

General Description and Classification Standards

Performs project management tasks at a professional level, working with the Director of Park Planning and Design and DPR Senior Leadership Team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and administering projects from start to finish in accordance with the Program Management Plan, serving as the subject‑matter expert on the project’s scope, schedule, and budget.

This is an emerging professional capable of independently carrying out most assignments typical of the profession. This is a single position and not part of a promotional series.

Supervision Received

Works under very general supervision. Depending on the organization structure, may work independently with responsibility for an assigned function or program.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects from conception to completion, including work performed by both internal staff and external consultants and contractors.
• Establish budgets, develop project schedules, and monitor adherence to scope, schedule, and budget.
• Coordinate technical design and engineering work to ensure compliance with planning concepts.
• Develop RFQs and RFPs.
• Conduct research on real estate acquisition (including easements and related legislation), zoning codes and ordinances, and construction materials and engineered systems.
• Perform inventory and analysis studies of planning and design documents, reports, and codes, as well as park sites, recreation centers, and other departmental facilities.
• Engage and coordinate with community members, city colleagues, and internal and external partners on current and past capital projects, real estate acquisition, and planning efforts.
• Attend mandatory meetings and take notes to relay critical developments and action items.
• Maintain the department’s graphic standards.
• Maintain current knowledge of planning, zoning, design, and construction practices.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Extensive knowledge of the concepts and processes of the profession, including how the discipline relates to related organizations and functions.
• Comprehensive knowledge of design principles and aesthetics.
• Broad knowledge of building systems, codes, ADA requirements, and the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design.
• Solid understanding of the technical aspects of architecture.
• Ability to serve as Project Manager, leading a project from programming through completion, monitoring financial performance, and managing project teams.
• Ability to prepare construction documents, plans, elevations, sections, specifications, schedules, and details for commercial and parks projects.
• Working knowledge of budget preparation, with a proven ability to manage projects within budgetary constraints.
• Strong design skills in AutoCAD.
• Advanced presentation and graphic communication skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Outlook, Teams), Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
• Well‑developed technical skills, with the ability to organize and present information and to carry out virtually all typical assignments within the professional area.
• Ability to meet deadlines without compromising design intent or internal standards.
• Ability to work within a team structure and manage multiple projects with varying deadlines.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications – Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Urban Planning, Civil/Structural Engineering, MEP Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in design and construction on small to medium‑scale design/procure/construction program.

Preferred Qualifications – Education and Experience

Five (5) years of project management experience and two (2) years of supervisory or managerial experience.

Licensures and Certifications

Required: Valid Georgia Driver’s License
