Capstone Copper's Pinto Valley Mine is seeking an Electrical Project Manager I to lead small to mid-size capital and sustaining projects focused on electrical systems. You will partner with operations, engineering, and contractors to ensure safety, schedule and cost objectives are met from concept through closeout.

You will develop electrical designs, manage charters and budgets, and monitor field activities to maintain quality and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field and 1–3 years of project experience.
• Experience with power distribution systems and electrical design.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

Pinto Valley is an open-pit copper mine located at the west end of the historic Globe-Miami mining district of central Arizona, approximately 80 miles east of Phoenix. Pinto Valley has been in operation since 1972 and has produced more than four billion pounds of copper. Acquired by Capstone from BHP in 2013, the mine is fully permitted through 2039 and a study is underway to potentially extend the mine life through 2050.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Electrical Project Manager I is responsible for managing and executing small to medium capital and sustaining projects at Pinto Valley Mine, with a focus on electrical systems and infrastructure. This role supports projects from concept through design, procurement, construction, and closeout, ensuring alignment with safety, cost, schedule, and quality objectives.

The position serves as an electrical subject matter expert and works closely with project teams, operations, and contractors to deliver reliable engineering solutions while maintaining compliance with site standards and regulatory requirements.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Project Execution:Manage projects from scope development through construction and closeout, including development of project charters, scope of work, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and tracking performance against plan.
• Electrical Engineering & Design:Develop, review, and support electrical designs and technical solutions, ensuring compliance with site standards, codes, and operational requirements.
• Contractor & Bid Management:Lead bid walks, evaluate contractor proposals, support contract development, and coordinate contractors through project execution.
• Field Oversight & Quality:Monitor field activities to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and design requirements, and provide directions to contractors to maintain quality and schedule.
• Cost & Schedule Control:Track project costs and timelines, manage change orders, and support budget development and forecasting activities.
• Documentation & Reporting:Maintain engineering drawings and documentation, support as-built updates, and provide regular project status updates to leadership and stakeholders.

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology or senior electrician
• 1–3 years of experience in project engineering or project management
• Experience with power distribution systems and electrical design
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Experience managing project schedules, budgets, and contractors
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong communication and coordination skills
• Valid driver’s license

Preferred

• Mining or heavy industrial experience
• EIT or PE certification
• Experience with PLCs, instrumentation, or electrical modeling software
• Experience with SAP or similar systems

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Combination of office-based and field-based work in an active open pit mining operation.
• Frequent walking on uneven ground and navigating active mine work environment
• Occasional climbing of fixed ladders and elevated structures.
• Exposure to dust, noise, heat, and varying weather conditions.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when working in operational areas.

All positions require a pre-placement physical examination to ensure candidates are 'fit for duty’. Additional training and/or testing may be required.
