Job summary

ADP in Houston is seeking a Lead Project Engineer to manage large and complex system projects from order date through delivery, interfacing with customers and direct sales personnel.

You will plan, schedule, and control projects, prepare drawings and BOMs, and supply cost estimates to support proposals and contracts.

Candidates should have an Associate degree or 3+ years of PM experience; experience with process or manufacturing systems is a plus; travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Engineering or related field, or 3+ years PM experience.
  • Experience with complex systems and project management.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing/process plants is a plus.
  • Ability to read blueprints and P&IDs.
  • Proven cost estimation and scheduling skills.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with customers as single point of contact for technical and commercial matters.
  • Manage project schedules, change orders, and scope revisions.
  • Prepare drawings, bill of materials, and project manuals.
  • Provide cost estimates for proposals and contract needs.
  • Coordinate with sales and other departments for project success.
  • Ensure on-time shipping and project documentation.
  • Conduct post-mortem meetings and review final margins.
  • Travel to customer sites and trade shows as needed.

FT Hourly/Exempt Full-Time Houston, TX, US

FUNCTION: Lead smaller scope projects that include the design, coordination, control, and documentation of large and complex systems across all industries. Under general direction and utilizing established procedures, responsible for the successful project management of systems from order date through delivery. Perform liaison between the customer and/or reps and direct sales personnel and the company on matters regarding project engineering, design, scheduling, quality, and financial impact.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Interface with customers on a technical and commercial basis to be the customer’s single
  • point of contact. This includes, but is not limited to, submitting drawings for customer
  • approval, addressing technical issues and concerns, managing project schedules, change management, implementing scope revisions, and order follow up.
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, direct and control assigned engineering projects; provide
  • necessary system design, engineering, material and labor cost estimates for proposal and
  • contract needs of the Company, according to contractual and/or established technical,
  • commercial, and administrative guidelines. Measure on time shipping per order and reviewed annually for improvement.
  • Ensure preparation of drawings, bill-of-materials, project specific manuals, and other data as required, by self or others.
  • Responsible for compiling all technical documentation for all projects in your portfolio.
  • Willingness to learn about Sentry and Rebuild-IT products and grow technical knowledge of the business.
  • Review specifications and contracts to ensure project requirements are met and
  • achievable. Interpret customer comments, determine commercial and technical impact of changes, and process change orders, as applicable.
  • Ensure that all concepts and system designs are cost effective, comply with company
  • technical guidelines, meet customer requirements, perform as designed and are
  • Work with the Sales Staff to select materials that are cost-effective and technically
  • suitable on a per project basis.
  • Establish clear communication channels with relevant departments, representatives,
  • and customers for each assigned proposal or contract. Ensure effective coordination
  • on all technical, commercial, scheduling, quality, and procedural matters.
  • Manage and audit costs on all projects including materials, freight, installation labor, etc.
  • Conduct project "Post Mortem" meetings internally with project with team members including final project margin review
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education
  • Associates degree from accredited college or university preferable in Engineering, Project Management, or similar. In lieu of Associates degree, a minimum of 3+ years’ experience relevant in project management.
Experience
  • Preferred 2 years’ project management experience, preferably including system design knowledge.
  • Preferred experience involving project management of complex custom systems
  • as well as working knowledge of specification packages in a manufacturing environment
  • General experience associated with process or power plants and waste water, is a plus.
  • Experience working with engineering and architect type firms.
  • Reviewing finances/budgets for orders and assessing proper paths for moving forward.

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail; able to establish priorities, handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, P&ID, and other technical drawings.
  • Occasional travel to trade shows, customer sites, and training events.
