Job summary

Our client, an established design-build general contractor on the East End of Long Island, is seeking a Construction Leader to take projects from handoff to closeout. You will manage scheduling, budgets, subcontractors and client relationships, with an annual production target around $2.5 million after onboarding.

Responsibilities include reviewing contracts and plans, maintaining schedules, monitoring costs, and leading subs while ensuring quality, safety and site protection.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing high-end residential construction and increasingly complex project scopes.
  • Strong command of construction methods, plans, sequencing, schedules, budgets, change orders and closeout.
  • Professional client presence, sound judgment, dependable follow-through and disciplined digital organization.
  • A high degree of personal ownership — the confidence to lead, and the humility to operate within an established system.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the internal handoff and review the contract, proposal, plans, allowances, exclusions, subcontractor quotes and schedule assumptions.
  • Maintain a realistic schedule covering sequencing, inspections, long-lead materials, client decisions and design information.
  • Keep job-cost information current and review costs, committed spend and projected margin every other Friday.
  • Compare subcontractor and vendor pricing against budget, and approve proposals before purchase orders are generated.
  • Identify cost exposure early — document, price and obtain written approval for additional work.
  • Lead subcontractors while holding the standard for quality, cleanliness, organization, safety and site protection.
  • Serve as the client's primary day-to-day contact during construction, and coordinate with homeowners, architects, designers, consultants and suppliers.
  • Drive punch-list completion, inspections, final documentation, Certificate of Occupancy requirements and an organized closeout.

Job description

Our client is an established design-build general contractor on the East End of Long Island, building custom homes, additions and high-end renovations across the Hamptons. Projects generally run from $500,000 to $3 million. The firm runs comprehensive project-management software with a client-facing progress portal, a vetted subcontractor network, and its own kitchen and bath showroom.

The role

Construction-phase leadership. You take each project at the handoff from preconstruction and carry it to closeout — the schedule, the budget, the subcontractors and the client relationship. The firm is explicit that the client should never be left to manage the process. The capacity target is roughly $2.5 million of annual production after onboarding.

What you will do
  • Participate in the internal handoff and review the contract, proposal, plans, allowances, exclusions, subcontractor quotes and schedule assumptions.
What we are looking for
  • Proven experience managing high-end residential construction and increasingly complex project scopes.
Compensation and benefits

$100,000 – $120,000 base, depending on experience.

  • Quarterly performance bonus based on production, completed-project profitability and overall execution.
  • $400 per month toward participation in the company health plan.
  • 401(k) with a match up to 4% of eligible compensation, plus discretionary profit sharing when available.
  • Paid company holidays, and graduated paid time off — one week in year one, increasing by a week each year to a maximum of four weeks from year four.
  • Take-home company vehicle for authorized business use, with company-paid business fuel.
  • Company phone and laptop.
Compensation:

$100,000-$120,000 per year
