Job summary

The Keystone Distinction Group is seeking a Project Manager for heavy civil NCDOT work in Charlotte, NC and central North Carolina. You will manage roadway, bridge and utility projects from preconstruction through closeout, with a self-perform team and direct access to senior leadership.

Ideal candidates have NCDOT PM experience, a strong background in cost control and scheduling, and are ready to lead field teams in a fast-growing program. Relocation to the Charlotte area is welcome.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as Project Manager of record on heavy civil, highway, bridge or utility work.
• NCDOT project experience as PM is required and candidates should name the jobs.
• Experience leading field teams and coordinating with owners, engineers and inspectors.
• Self-perform contractor background strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee NCDOT roadway, bridge and utility projects from preconstruction through closeout.
• Own budget, schedule, cost reports, forecasting and margin on every job.
• Submit accurate cost and income projections and address variances early.
• Lead superintendents, field engineers and subcontractors to meet production, quality and safety targets.
• Serve as main contact for NCDOT, owners, engineers, inspectors and vendors.
• Issue subcontracts and purchase orders; manage subcontractor performance.
• Handle change orders, pay estimates, submittals and contract documentation.
• Run weekly project meetings on schedule and cost; report to leadership.
• Collaborate with estimating on bids and handoffs to start jobs right.
• Maintain a strong safety culture on all sites.

A well established, self perform heavy civil contractor with a growing program in the Carolinas is hiring a Project Manager for NCDOT work in the Charlotte market and across central North Carolina.

This is a strong opportunity for a Project Manager who has already run NCDOT jobs as the PM of record, start to finish, and wants a backlog that's already won and a direct line to senior leadership.

You'll run NCDOT roadway, bridge and utility projects from preconstruction through closeout, much of it self performed. Charlotte area candidates are ideal, and candidates ready to relocate to the Charlotte area are welcome.

What You'll Be Responsible For

• Run NCDOT roadway, bridge and utility projects as the Project Manager of record, from preconstruction through closeout.


• Own the budget, schedule, cost reports, forecasting and margin on every job you run.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years as the Project Manager of record on heavy civil, highway, bridge or utility work for a contractor.


• Documented NCDOT project experience as the PM is required. Be ready to name the jobs.


• You have already run projects in their entirety. This is not a step up role for an APM or Project Engineer.


• Contractor side builders only. Consultant, design or inspection only backgrounds will not fit.


• Strong on cost control, schedules, change orders and managing field teams.


• Vista and HCSS HeavyJob experience preferred.


• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred, or equivalent field experience.


• OSHA 30 is a plus.


• Charlotte area candidates preferred. Candidates open to relocating are welcome.
