Job summary

The Keystone Distinction Group is seeking a Project Manager for NCDOT heavy civil work in the Cary/Raleigh market. You will run projects from preconstruction through closeout, including grading, drainage, and DOT roadway work, with a self-perform capability.

This role reports to senior leadership and involves direct coordination with NCDOT and subcontractors. Ideal candidates have 5+ years of PM experience on highway or utility projects, NCDOT familiarity, and a proven track record of managing

• 5+ years as a Project Manager on heavy civil, highway or utility work.
• NCDOT project experience required.
• Track record running projects from preconstruction to closeout.
• Contractor-side experience; not suitable for consultant/inspection backgrounds.
• Strong cost control, scheduling, change orders and field-team management.
• OSHA 30 is a plus.
• Triangle area relocation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Run NCDOT roadway, bridge and utility projects from preconstruction through closeout.
• Own the budget, schedule, cost reports, forecasting and margin on every job.
• Submit accurate cost and income projections and act on variances early.
• Lead superintendents, field engineers and subcontractors to hit production, quality and safety.
• Serve as the main contact for NCDOT, owners, engineers, inspectors and vendors.
• Issue subcontracts and purchase orders and manage subcontractor performance.
• Handle change orders, pay estimates, submittals, claims and contract documentation.
• Run weekly project meetings on schedule and cost, and report performance to leadership.
• Work with estimating on bids and the handoff so the job starts right.
• Keep a strong safety culture on every site.

A well established, self perform heavy civil contractor with a growing program in the Carolinas is hiring a Project Manager for NCDOT work in the Cary and Raleigh market.

This is a strong opportunity for a Project Manager who has already run NCDOT roadway, bridge or utility jobs for a contractor and wants to own the whole job, a backlog that's already won, and a direct line to senior leadership.

You'll take projects from preconstruction through closeout: grading, storm drain, water and sewer, erosion control and DOT roadway, much of it self performed. Triangle locals are ideal, and candidates ready to relocate to the Raleigh area are welcome.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years as a Project Manager on heavy civil, highway, bridge or utility work for a contractor.
• NCDOT project experience is required.
• A track record running projects in their entirety, from preconstruction to closeout.
• Contractor side builders only. Consultant, design or inspection only backgrounds will not fit.
• Strong on cost control, schedules, change orders and managing field teams.
• Vista and HCSS HeavyJob experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred, or equivalent field experience.
• OSHA 30 is a plus.
• Triangle candidates preferred. Candidates open to relocating to the Raleigh area are welcome.
