  • Direct experience with underground utility construction, with a strong understanding of wet utility scopes such as water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage.
  • Strong background in additional heavy civil scopes including earthwork, grading, duct banks, and site development.
  • Experience with projects ranging from approximately $500K to $30M.
  • Familiarity with project management software such as Procore, MS Project, Primavera, or similar platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee heavy civil projects from preconstruction through closeout.

  • Coordinate with Superintendents, field leadership, clients, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal leadership.

  • Promote a safety-first culture while maintaining company, client, and regulatory standards.
  • Travel throughout the Southeast as required to support active and upcoming projects.

This position is ideal for a Project Manager who understands self-performed heavy civil construction and is comfortable working closely with field teams to manage production, manpower, equipment, cost, schedule, and overall project execution.

Our ideal candidate brings strong experience with underground utilities—particularly wet utilities—along with earthwork, grading, concrete, and site development. Experience supporting mission-critical or data center construction is highly valued.

What You’ll Do

As a Project Manager, you will oversee heavy civil projects from preconstruction through closeout while ensuring they are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to Gregory Construction’s standards.

You will work closely with Superintendents and field leadership to manage the day-to-day execution of self-performed civil scopes while maintaining strong communication with clients, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal leadership.

Responsibilities

Manage heavy civil construction projects from preconstruction through project closeout.

Oversee self-performed construction scopes including underground utilities, earthwork, grading, concrete, and site development.

Manage underground utility installation including water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, duct banks, and related infrastructure.

Partner closely with Superintendents and field leadership to manage manpower, equipment, production, sequencing, and overall project execution.

Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, cost projections, and risk-management plans.

Monitor project productivity and production against established budgets and schedules.

Coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, vendors, engineers, owners, and clients.

Manage contracts, change orders, billing, cost reporting, procurement, and project documentation.

Identify potential project risks, delays, and cost impacts and proactively develop solutions.

Lead project meetings and provide regular updates to internal leadership and clients.

Promote a safety-first culture while maintaining company, client, and regulatory standards.

Build trusted client relationships through proactive and professional communication.

Mentor Project Engineers and support the development of project teams.

Travel throughout the Southeast as required to support active and upcoming projects.

What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications

5–10+ years of Project Management experience within heavy civil construction.

Strong experience managing self-performed construction operations preferred.

Demonstrated experience managing field crews, equipment, production, schedules, budgets, and project costs.

Direct experience with underground utility construction, with a strong understanding of wet utility scopes such as water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage.

Strong background in one or more additional heavy civil scopes, including:

  • Earthwork and mass excavation
  • Grading and site development
  • Duct banks and underground infrastructure

Experience managing projects ranging from approximately $500K to $30M.

Strong understanding of project scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and contract administration.

Experience with project management software such as Procore, MS Project, Primavera, or similar platforms.

Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Ability and willingness to travel to active project sites throughout Georgia and the Southeast as business needs require.

A leadership style grounded in accountability, teamwork, and respect.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent field experience.

Experience working for a self-performing heavy civil contractor.

Strong experience managing underground wet utility and site development scopes.

Experience supporting mission-critical, data center, industrial, or other large-scale infrastructure projects.

Experience managing multiple crews and significant equipment resources in active field environments.

Based in or within reasonable proximity to the Atlanta, Georgia area.
