Job summary

Jobtailor in New Jersey seeks an experienced Electrical Project Manager to oversee field-based electrical services for high-, medium-, and low-voltage systems up to 500kV. You will lead inspections, testing, troubleshooting, start-ups, and data collection, and coordinate with sales on pre-planning and quotes.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in shutdowns, turnarounds, or switchgear commissioning, with PowerDB/RTS experience and strong safety training.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree preferred or equivalent military training.
  • 5+ years in electrical maintenance shutdowns/turnarounds or switchgear commissioning.
  • Experience with Doble software, automated CT set, PowerDB, RTS or Protest relay testing, oil testing, infrared scanning, automatic transfer switching, switchgear startup through 500kV class, and VFDs preferred.
  • NETA Certification a plus, but not required.
  • General PC skills including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with PowerDB a plus.
  • OSHA 30-hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training a plus; training can be provided by Shermco.
  • Must work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee electrical services jobs involving inspection, testing, troubleshooting, start-up, and data collection for low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical systems up to 500kV.
  • Manage moderately complex relay calibration and power metering.
  • Perform at least 50% of job duties in the field.
  • Participate in pre-planning, walk-throughs, estimating, and quoting with the sales department.
  • Identify and assign crew-member job assignments.
  • Interface with customers, attend meetings, provide updates, resolve issues, and conduct final job walks.
  • Identify expanded job-scope opportunities and coordinate additional billing with the Account Manager.
  • Monitor job budgets through technician time and material costs.
  • Ensure successful start-up before energizing.
  • Complete, compile, review, and submit accurate reports to the Production Manager.
  • Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies promptly.

Job description

  • 5 or more years of experience project managing electrical maintenance shutdowns/turnarounds or switchgear commissioning
  • Experience with Doble software, automated CT set, PowerDB, RTS or Protest relay testing, oil testing, infrared scanning, automatic transfer switching, switchgear start-up through 500kV class, and VFDs preferred
