Job summary

GSM Industrial, Inc. seeks a dedicated Project Manager to oversee metal fabrication projects from kickoff to delivery within budget and schedule.

You will coordinate with design teams, suppliers, and customers, ensuring accurate documentation, sequencing, and communication of milestones, changes, and risks throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years’ post high school training and five years in this or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of custom metal fabrication, welding, and finishing practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and material specifications.
  • Project management, and computer skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all phases of project management from kickoff to delivery.
  • Consult on estimated costs, schedule, and project requirements.
  • Break down bid into actionable ERP tasks and lead execution.
  • Communicate scope, milestones, and changes to the team and customers.
  • Manage cash flow with timely invoicing per terms.

Job description

Description

The primary responsibility is to ensure that each project is executed within budget and on time while meeting or exceeding the quality standards. This ensures a successful project for GSM and for the customer. It is accomplished by defining, monitoring, and managing all phases or milestones throughout the duration of the project.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Adheres to the responsibilities and expectations defined in the GSM Industrial Project Chart.
  • Available to consult on estimated costs, schedule, and project requirements.
  • Responsible for completing and/or delegating the documentation requirements of the kickoff meeting, as well as setting up and leading kick-off meetings to understand project specifications and timeframe, materials, scope of work and scheduling.
  • Break-down of bid into actionable items within ERP system.
  • Takes ownership of the scope of work and communicates information as it becomes available with project team members.
  • Interacts with design staff and customers to ensure the job is constructed properly. Works to value-engineer a project if possible.
  • Provides technical solutions and timely assistance to shop & field staff as needed.
  • Interacts with customer(s) to provide project status: including milestone updates, delay notices, change orders.
  • Orders project related fabrication materials and any non-fabricated parts.
  • Coordinates shipping and receiving processes related to all phases of the project including customer supplied items, parts shipped directly to the shop, subcontracted work, and shipping and customer procurement of final goods.
  • Executes or delegates all Project Management related functions that are not explicitly defined within the job functions of other positions.
  • Manage cash flow by timely invoicing of project according to terms.

Requirements
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Minimum of two years’ post high school training and five years in this or a related field OR equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of custom metal fabrication, welding, and finishing practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and material specifications.
  • Project management, and computer skills.
  • Decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Intermediate mathematical skills.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify opportunities and provide solutions with effective verbal and written communication skills.

Machines/Tools/Equipment:
  • Computer, office equipment and plotters, etc.
Working Conditions:
  • Primarily a controlled office and shop environment and periodic visits to job sites
  • In a normal workday, the employee must be able to stand approximately 1-4 hours
  • In a normal workday, the employee must be able to sit approximately 4-6 hours
  • In a normal workday, the employee must be able to walk approximately 1-4 hours
  • In a normal workday, the employee will have little to no driving
  • In a normal workday, the employee must be able to lift/carry approximately 20 lbs. maximum; frequently lift/carry up to 10 lbs. – Light Work
  • The employee must be able to use his/her upper extremities for repetitive simple grasping.
  • The employee must be able to occasionally (0-33%) throughout the day:
