Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Project Manager for Federal Environmental Remediation based out of Providence, Rhode Island. In this role, you will manage complex environmental projects and teams, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and effective communication across stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have a BA/BS in Geology or Engineering, over 4 years of experience, and a strong background in project invoicing. Preferred qualifications include a Professional License and 10+ years of experience in environmental remediation.

Job description

Project Manager – Federal Environmental Remediation

Worked from Providence, Rhode Island office on a hybrid basis (average 3 days a week in office).

Responsibilities
  • Familiar with project invoicing and cash flow management.
  • Manages and directs professional and technical staff to complete complex environmental projects.
  • Leads teams by utilizing advanced scientific principles, theories, and practices.
  • Utilizes existing technologies and past experience to develop technical solutions to complex problems.
  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Analyzes financial statements and completes budget tracking.
  • Performs work with minimal direction with periodic reporting to area manager.
  • Oversees the preparation of work plans and organizes project studies.
  • Performs complex assignments often requiring development of unique solutions with support of the project team.
  • Supervises junior and mid-level staff during all phases of project work.
  • Conducts reviews and provides staff feedback for continued improvement.
Minimum Requirements
  • BA/BS in Geology, Engineering, or related field with +4 years relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Due to nature of work, sponsorship for this role will not be available at this time or in the future.
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen or permanent resident.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional License (PE, PG).
  • 10+ years’ experience in environmental remediation (soil, water, sediment, PFAS, munitions) project management.
  • Master’s degree in Geology, Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering, or related degree.
  • Experience with regulator and stakeholder negotiations.
  • Experience successfully managing environmental projects for Federal clients (USACE, AFCEC, Navy).
  • Thorough working knowledge of RCRA and CERCLA.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Experience in team management and scheduling of staff and resources to ensure on-time and on-budget project delivery.
  • Superior communication, writing, editing, and reporting skills for a wide variety of audiences.
  • Experience preparing proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and change orders.
  • Interest in business development.
  • Experience leading teams of professionals in executing Site Investigations, Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, Risk Assessment, and Treatability Studies for Federal environmental projects.
  • Occasional overnight travel required.
Compensation

Annual salary range: $115,000 – $140,000.
