Group: Environmental Services | Position: Environmental Project Manager | Location: Indianapolis, IN

We are looking for a team oriented and energetic problem solver to become the next integral member of our environmental science team. Successful candidates must share our vision for integrating the built environment and natural resources by seeking common-sense solutions while maintaining a strong commitment to our high standard of excellence in our fast-paced, growing environmental practice.

Responsibilities
  • General duties include management and primary direction of multi-discipline projects.
  • Responsibilities include managing, controlling, and monitoring environmental aspects of the project, technical leadership, quality assurance, inter-department and client coordination.
  • Coordination and execution of field investigations and analysis of natural, economic and social resources, proposal support and development for new business.
  • Project Management: Prepare proposals, scopes of work, fee justifications, and contracts for projects.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate all activities of project to ensure goals or objectives are accomplished within prescribed funding and schedule parameters.
  • Establish project work plans with milestones, schedule, and financial plan including budget, man-hour utilization forecast, and billing forecast.
  • Monitor and control project financials; review cost sheets and prepare monthly invoices.
  • Prepare monthly cost/profit analyses and billing projections.
  • Coordinate inter-departmental project activities to maintain and drive schedules; coordinate with client and permitting authorities as necessary.
  • Represent the firm at project meetings, presentations, and public hearings; document items discussed and maintain project correspondence.
  • Maintain electronic file organization and archiving.
  • Collaborate with sub-consultants and other departments to ensure productivity and cooperation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Technical Direction
  • Direct and coordinate activities of environmental specialists, staff scientists, and technicians to keep projects on schedule and within budgets.
  • Oversee preparation of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation.
  • Oversee delineation of wetlands and other jurisdictional waters and related permitting.
  • Mentor and provide hands-on assistance in environmental analyses, oral and written communication.
  • Stay current with environmental procedures, statutes, rules, guidance and policies.
  • Attend seminars and continuing education to enhance skills in relevant disciplines.
Quality Assurance
  • Supervise project personnel to ensure adherence to quality assurance plans, budgets, and schedules.
  • Review QA/QC guidelines to ensure high-quality work products.
  • Review interim and final reports, design drawings, and computations for completeness and accuracy before submittal.
  • Review work performed by other departments and/or sub-consultants for satisfactory performance.
  • Respond to regulatory agency comments promptly.
  • Limited travel required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s in Environmental Science or related field.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in environmental science.
  • Experience with wetland delineations and federal, state and local permitting, particularly Clean Water Act Section 404 and 401 Certifications preferred.
  • Experience with NEPA documentation preferred; FHWA NEPA or ability to complete NEPA certification within one year.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications.
  • Ability to travel and work in the field (outdoors).
  • Ability to work well and self-motivate in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to work in variable conditions, including uneven ground and remote sites.
  • Strong team player with effective internal & external communication skills.
  • Experience with ArcView/ArcMap preferred.
