Job summary

Stantec is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and deliver energy sector projects in Southern California, with opportunities to work across the Western US. You will guide multi-disciplinary teams through pursuit, planning, design, and construction, while managing scope, budget, schedule, and client relations.

The role emphasizes earned value management, risk and quality controls, and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years’ relevant professional experience, with at least 5 years of experience managing and/or coordinating projects.
  • PMP and/or Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with project management software and ERP systems.

Your Key Responsibilities

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading exceptional teams to deliver successful projects for our clients in the Energy business. You will engage internally throughout the organization with staff at all levels, and externally with clients, members of business and professional organizations, regulatory agencies, subconsultants, and other firms. Specific responsibilities of a Project Manager include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Developing and managing the approved scope, budget, and schedule on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Writing proposals

  • Establishing project objectives, procedures and performance standards, and leading multi-disciplinary teams on proposals, planning studies, feasibility through final designs, and construction services.

  • Identifying appropriate resources and skill sets to achieve project objectives as well as managing contract terms, tracking and managing costs and schedule, and implementing measures necessary to stay on schedule and within budget.

  • Actively support proposal pricing strategies, cost proposal preparation, contract legal and risk reviews, and related marketing efforts needed to develop winning proposals.

  • Embracing Stantec’s internal policies and practices, including risk management, project management, and quality management.

  • Work in a manner to protect the health and safety of Stantec employees, clients and the public by following company health, safety and security guidelines and policies.

  • Maintaining and enhancing our relationship with clients, approval agencies and industry professionals by providing exceptional service.

  • Providing mentoring and training for future leaders to support their career growth.

  • Promoting collaboration and teamwork across business lines and geographies.

Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Experienced in organizing, planning, and executing projects from pursuit through closeout, involving internal personnel, subconsultants, and vendors.

  • Ability to make sound defensible business decisions, and identify, assess, evaluate, and solve complex problems.

  • Proven track record managing projects from planning through construction or implementation within a consulting environment.

  • Familiarity with Earned Value Management.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Passion for team building and collaboration.

  • Travel to other offices as well as to project sites will be required.

  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing project budgets, contracts, and resources.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience with project management software (MS Project, Primavera P6), collaboration tools (SharePoint, Bluebeam), and ERP systems (Deltek, Oracle).

  • Experience managing large-scale or high-profile infrastructure, environmental, or building design projects.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects and teams simultaneously.

  • Client-focused mindset with commitment to technical excellence, quality, and safety.

  • Ability to drive business development and support organizational growth initiatives.

Education and Experience
  • Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, engineering, or related technical discipline.

Pay Range

Locations in WA, DC & Various CA, MA, VA Areas-$107,300.00 - $155,500.00 Annually

Pay Transparency

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary

Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death &D insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
