Job summary

Heavy Road & Rail Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead electrical substation and utility construction projects across California. You will oversee budgets, schedules, and stakeholder coordination from award through closeout, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

The role requires 5+ years in utility or heavy civil construction, with strong scheduling, cost control, and contract administration skills. Travel throughout California is expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of project management experience in utility/heavy civil or electrical construction.
• Experience managing electrical substations, transmission, distribution, renewables, or BESS projects preferred.
• Strong scheduling, cost control, forecasting, and contract administration skills.
• Ability to read civil, structural, and electrical drawings.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

Location: Fresno, CA (Travel Required Throughout California)

Heavy Road & Rail Inc. is a growing heavy civil and utility contractor specializing in electrical substations, battery energy storage systems (BESS), transmission and distribution infrastructure, and complex civil construction projects throughout California.

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead high-profile utility and substation projects from award through closeout. What You'll Do

• Manage multiple electrical substation and utility construction projects.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.
• Experience with Procore, HCSS, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar construction software is a plus.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites throughout California.

Compensation & Benefits

• $120,000 – $160,000 annually, based on experience
