Project Manager

SMS group Inc. seeks a Project Manager to work in Pittsburgh, PA. This role focuses on electrical and automation projects related to Electric Arc Furnaces, Ladle Metallurgical Furnaces, Vacuum Tank Degassers, Continuous Casters, Hot and Cold Rolling Mills, Metallurgy and Processing Lines equipment.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for reporting and accountability of schedule, budget, project performance, and quality.


• Manage and participate in project planning, estimating, scheduling, reporting, staffing, procurement, and execution.


• Develop and support the design of automation solutions for modernization and new installations of control systems.


• Create technical documentation including engineering drawings, motor lists, functional descriptions, and user manuals.


• Provide assistance to the Sales department in developing customer technical proposals and specifications.


• Interface, communicate, and manage relationships with local and global SMS project teams (project managers, engineers, support personnel), internal experts, customers, and suppliers to provide engineering solutions to technical issues and project-related matters.


• Provide technical support for the development, implementation, and commissioning of PLC and PC–based automation control systems that include motion control, advanced sensors, VFD drives, and actuators.


• Coordinate and harmonize the technical subject matter of a contract, including technical support and sales discussions at customer sites.

Qualifications

• Minimum: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related field.


• At least five (5) years’ experience in an engineering role in metals or a similar industry.


• Experience in electrical and automation practices.


• Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).


• Experience applying engineering principles to the solution of design problems.


• Up to 20% domestic and international travel.


• Familiarity with clients such as Big River Steel LLC (Osceola, AR), Hybar LLC (Osceola, AR), and Steel Dynamics Inc. (Sinton, TX).
