Job summary

Harris & Associates seeks a seasoned Project Manager in California to oversee K-12 and higher education facilities projects from concept through closeout. You will coordinate with school districts, architects, engineers and Harris staff to ensure timely decisions, budgets, and schedules while maintaining quality and compliance with DSA requirements.

Demonstrated leadership in multi-phase construction, strong communication, and 6+ years of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field.
• 6+ years of project, construction, or program management experience with increasing responsibilities.
• DSA experience on K-12 projects is required.
• OSHA-10 certification required within 1 month of hiring.
• Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record.
• Additional certifications such as PMP or CCM are highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for school district representatives, contractors, architects, engineers, regulatory agencies, and Harris staff, facilitating effective communication and timely decision-making.
• Provide administrative, technical, and operational leadership throughout all phases of construction from pre-bid through closeout and final acceptance.
• Direct and oversee construction activities to meet schedules, budgets, and quality standards while mitigating risks.
• Develop and maintain relationships with district stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and Harris team members to ensure client satisfaction.
• Lead project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and reporting with regular updates to leadership and stakeholders.
• Facilitate project meetings, prepare agendas/minutes, track action items, and resolve outstanding issues.
• Mentor and guide project engineers and assistants to support successful project execution.

Education

Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field

The Project Manager is involved in the project from its early stages and assists the Owner with the development of project budgets, overall project schedules, selection of the design team and other tasks as requested. The PM monitors the development of project plans and specifications, updates project budgets and schedule as the project evolves, and assists the Owner with the bidding (where applicable) and award of the project.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Serve as the primary point of contact for school district representatives, contractors, architects, engineers, regulatory agencies, and Harris staff, facilitating effective communication, resolving complex project issues, and driving timely decision-making. Maintain overall accountability for project performance, client satisfaction, and successful project delivery.
• Provide comprehensive administrative, technical, and operational leadership throughout all phases of construction, from pre-bid planning and procurement through construction, commissioning, closeout, and final acceptance. Ensure compliance with district policies, applicable codes, DSA requirements, and contract documents.
• Direct and oversee all construction activities to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with approved plans, specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. Proactively identify project risks and implement corrective actions to mitigate impacts to cost, schedule, and quality.
• Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with school district stakeholders, campus administrators, consultants, contractors, and Harris team members. Foster a culture of trust, accountability, and partnership while consistently providing exceptional client service and communication.
• Lead project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and reporting activities, providing regular updates to district leadership and other stakeholders regarding project status, risks, milestones, and financial performance.
• Facilitate project meetings, prepare meeting agendas and minutes, track action items, and ensure timely resolution of outstanding issues.
• Mentor and provide guidance to project engineers, assistant project managers, inspectors, and other project staff, supporting professional development and successful project execution.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field
• 6+ years of project, construction, or programmanagement experience with increasing responsibilities in each assignment.
• Experience with Division of State Architect (DSA) projects required with specific K-12 experience highly experience
• OSHA-10 certification (required within 1 month of hiring)
• Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record
• Additional certifications/licenses such as PMP or CCM highly preferred

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary range offered for this position is $135K-150K. Actual pay offered will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
