Job description

Brailsford & Dunlavey (B&D), now part of Project Management Advisors (PMA), is seeking a Project Manager to support our Data Center projects in Michigan.

This is an on-site role in Saline, Michigan.

The Opportunity

An opportunity for an experienced construction management professional who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments, enjoys leading multidisciplinary teams, and is motivated to deliver mission-critical facilities that support the future of technology and digital infrastructure.

At Brailsford & Dunlavey (B&D), we lead the planning, development, and management of the places that shape and strengthen communities—where people live, learn, work, and innovate. B&D partners with institutions, municipalities, and organizations to deliver complex real estate and capital projects through strategic advisory and program management services across the full project lifecycle.

B&D recently joined forces with Project Management Advisors (PMA), bringing together two nationally recognized leaders in program management and real estate advisory services. Together, the combined firm offers expanded capabilities across industries and end-to-end project delivery—from early-stage strategy through design, construction, and occupancy.

The project manager provides direct, onsite support for the planning, coordination, execution, and delivery of projects. As part of the Owner’s project management team, this role works closely with contractors, designers, consultants, vendors, and internal stakeholders to support project delivery and maintain accurate, organized documentation.

The project manager should be visible in the field, technically curious, highly organized, and proactive in identifying issues, tracking commitments, and providing accurate updates before risks affect project milestones.

How You’ll Contribute
  • Serve as an onsite representative of the Owner’s project management team, supporting day-to-day coordination with the general contractor, trade partners, design team, consultants, vendors, and facility stakeholders.
  • Develop a working knowledge of project drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, equipment requirements, and project controls.
  • Track action items, milestones, deliverables, constraints, and open decisions. Follow up with responsible parties and elevate risks when appropriate.
  • Walk the site regularly to observe progress, document field conditions, identify coordination issues, and help resolve logistical or technical concerns.
  • Monitor construction progress against baseline and short-term schedules, confirming that planned activities are starting and finishing as expected.
  • Assist with look-ahead and work‑plan reviews, identifying design, access, material, equipment, labor, and stakeholder constraints that could affect project delivery.
  • Help develop and track mitigation or recovery actions when work deviates from the plan, communicating status to the senior Project Manager or Owner’s Representative.
  • Participate in field quality reviews and punch‑list activities. Document observations and track deficiencies and nonconforming work through closure.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning, shutdowns, site access, and turnover activities with contractors, consultants, vendors, and end users.
  • Prepare concise project updates summarizing progress, upcoming work, decisions, risks, safety matters, quality concerns, and required follow‐up.
  • Maintain organized project records, including meeting minutes, photographs, logs, submittals, RFIs, change documentation, schedules, and closeout materials.
  • Attend OAC, design coordination, planning, and stakeholder meetings prepared to document decisions, communicate field status, and drive action items to closure.
  • Support cost and change management by collecting supporting documentation, reviewing scope, tracking potential changes, and assisting with forecasts and payment documentation.
  • Build productive working relationships, communicate clearly, and consistently support client expectations, deadlines, and project priorities.
  • Exercise sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential project information.
What We’re Looking For
  • 3+ years of experience in project management, construction management, engineering, facilities, or a related technical field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or similar field.
  • Experience supporting commercial buildings, laboratories, utilities, site development, or other infrastructure projects is preferred. Experience with complex or mission‑critical facilities is a plus.
  • Technical aptitude and the ability to read drawings and specifications and understand basic architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and equipment coordination.
  • Strong computer and documentation skills, including spreadsheets, presentations, online collaboration, file management, scheduling or project‑management platforms, and electronic plan review.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, professional curiosity, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A collaborative attitude and willingness to learn from senior project managers, contractors, designers, technical specialists, and field personnel.
What Sets You Apart
  • You are a proactive leader who takes ownership of project outcomes
  • You excel at managing complex construction environments with multiple stakeholders
  • You bring strong communication skills and emotional intelligence to client and team interactions
  • You are highly organized and detail‑oriented when managing schedules, budgets, and project documentation
  • You approach challenges with curiosity and a solutions‑oriented mindset
  • You are comfortable operating in technical, fast‑moving project environments
  • You demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment in all interactions
  • You are passionate about delivering mission‑critical facilities that support innovation and technology
