Job summary

ARCO Design/Build in Columbus, OH is seeking a motivated Design/Build Manager to lead project performance from day one. You will oversee estimating, scheduling, coordination with owners and design teams, and the buyout of subcontractors, ensuring value engineering and timely delivery.

This role requires a BS in Engineering, 5–10 years of construction management, and a track record of sound decision-making under deadlines.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering or related field.
  • 5-10 years of construction management experience as a Project Engineer, APM, or Project Manager.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to organize, plan and manage multiple activities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage budgeting, scheduling, quality control, progress reporting, and safety.
  • Ensure accurate and complete project estimates.
  • Collaborate with owners and design team on concept drawings.
  • Participate in owner meetings to review scope and drive value engineering.
  • Oversee subcontractor buyout and selection.
  • Conduct bi-weekly on-site meetings and oversee progress.
  • Make timely decisions under deadlines and coordinate multiple activities.
  • Improve processes based on customer input and project feedback.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Responsible for managerial and administrative aspects of a project. Including estimating, scheduling, quality control, progress reports, progress billing, design review and coordination, cost reporting, safety, and proposal preparation
  • Ensure an accurate and complete project estimate
  • Work closely with owners and the design team to develop preliminary concept drawings
  • Participate in the proposal meeting with the owner to review the scope of work, discuss ways to reduce costs, and provide value engineering ideas
  • Oversee the buyout process and the selection of subcontractors
  • Conduct bi-weekly job site meetings on site
  • Make sound decisions under tight deadlines
  • Organize, plan, and manage multiple activities to accomplish desired results

  • Make necessary changes, use customer input to make improvements, and meet/exceed internal and external client expectations

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Engineering or related field
  • 5-10 years of construction management experience as a Project Engineer, APM, or Project Manager.
  • Ability to effectively make sound decisions under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to organize, plan and manage multiple activities to accomplish desired results.
  • Exhibit commitment to quality by evaluating project-related processes. Make necessary changes, use customer input to make improvements, and meet/exceed internal and external customer expectations.
  • Act in a manner of integrity that shows support for the company, its values, and the employees, while maintaining constant focus on meeting/exceeding customer requirements and expectations.
  • Computer skills: proficiency using Word, Excel, Outlook and Microsoft Project.
