Weston & Sampson is currently seeking a Project Manager – Civil / Site Designer with 10‑15 years of experience to work in any of our offices located in Virginia, North Carolina, or South Carolina.
Responsibilities
- Manage projects, including scoping, task management, invoices and final closeout.
- Supervise and support the work of others and mentor junior level engineers & design technical staff.
- Plan, design, permit, and coordinate construction phases for medium to large projects.
- Prepare project reports, calculations, drawings, construction plans, specifications, permitting packages, and deliverables.
- Coordinate with clients, sub‑consultants, regulatory agencies, and public members to achieve assigned objectives.
- Make technical presentations to approving authorities.
- Lead project teams on the design and delivery of site civil and facilities design, including related studies.
- Review assigned and prospective projects to define scope, determine work procedures, schedules, budget, staffing, sub‑consultant involvement, and billing milestones.
- Perform sophisticated and complicated designs and calculations per design guidelines and standards using software.
- Participate in construction support activities: RFIs, submittal reviews, site observations, and design revisions/management of change orders, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting.
- Pursue new work: plan, design, construct administration for a variety of site‑civil projects and compete for new projects, including marketing strategies, proposals, interviews, and contract negotiations as required.
- Participate in professional organizations and technical committees.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering or Civil Engineering required; Master’s in Civil or Environmental Engineering a plus.
- PE license in South Carolina or North Carolina, or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
- 10 – 15 years experience working with private and municipal clients in engineering or project management roles.
- Strong written and verbal communication and technical skills with project plans and presentations.
- Planning, organizing, and controlling activities of a project team.
- Demonstrated success in managing medium to large projects on time and within budget, across multiple offices and projects.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Work arrangement: Hybrid (remote and on‑site).
