Manages multiple concurrent transmission electric system capital improvement projects from initiation through completion.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble and coordinate cross‑functional project teams for high‑priority projects.
Lead teams to achieve project objectives on time, within scope and budget.
Develop detailed baseline project schedules, identify critical paths and milestones.
Track and update construction dates monthly in the project schedule.
Monitor progress and identify at‑risk activities to mitigate schedule delays.
Serve as escalation point for project issues, risks and change requests.
Resolve issues, escalating concerns to leadership as required.
Control project costs via monthly cash flow projections, comparing actual vs. committed costs and identifying variances.
Review construction contractor quotes, issue PO requisitions, approve change orders and invoices.
Communicate project status, issues and risks to leadership and stakeholders effectively.
Collaborate with personnel across the company to meet project objectives.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in project and/or construction management in the electric utility industry (or equivalent).
Transmission electric system capital project experience strongly preferred.
Or, minimum of twelve (12) years of progressively responsible experience in electric utility construction or equivalent.
Demonstrated ability to lead, direct and motivate a cross‑functional team.
PMP certification from PMI preferred.
Experience creating project schedules using Primavera, Microsoft Project or equivalent.
Experience identifying alternative solutions and conducting risk assessments.
Experience coordinating and negotiating with external vendors or third parties.
Familiarity with electric utility construction processes, substation and line equipment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
Required to travel on short notice.
Works independently with minimal supervision in a team environment.
