Qualifications

Job description

Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results‑driven and forward‑thinking Project Manager to join our culture. In this role, you will be responsible for all aspects of assigned projects, including planning, scheduling, directing, application engineering, budgeting and procurement, as well as managing field installation, start‑up, and close‑out. You will ensure projects are executed within budget and on schedule, maintain positive cash flow, and act as the key interface with the customer to maximize satisfaction, safety, and quality.

Responsibilities
  • Manage many aspects of assigned projects (typically valued up to $1M) from award through completion, including overall site management for successful and timely completion within budget.
  • Prepare project installation plans, manage the plans and implement job procedures.
  • Translate customer needs and requirements into detailed proposals and project implementation plans; review and approve estimated costs prior to bid; engage in contract negotiation; provide technical assistance to sales force; supervise project design engineering.
  • Supervise installation labor and subcontractors; prepare project schedules and manage subcontracts, change proposals and invoices; assist with collections on projects.
  • Communicate project requirements to the team and wider organization as required, maintaining accurate records of job status, changes, material flow and control records for reporting.
  • Act as the customer’s best service provider at all times, ensuring we remain their first choice for service.
  • Identify potential project risks, develop and implement strategies to minimize impact, and control deviations from estimated costs and deadlines.
  • Communicate project schedules and changes regularly with the customer, seeking continuous improvement of customer satisfaction.
  • Manage procurement of materials, supplies and services for timely and cost‑effective completion.
  • Establish project milestones, analyze costs, review actual vs. estimated job cost, provide accurate cost reports, and adjust or correct the project plan or cost estimates to meet financial goals.
  • Execute and review all scope of work, terms and conditions in customer contracts, ensuring cost control, delivery fulfillment, quality control and adherence to customer requirements.
  • Manage the selection and work of subcontractors; if applicable, manage direct reports.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
Qualifications
  • Project management experience in a technical environment, such as building automation systems, fire alarm systems, electronic security systems, and AV systems.
  • Coaching, mentoring, and staff development skills with a solid leadership orientation; actively seeks ways to act as a role model, guide and mentor others.
  • Team leadership, team building and facilitation skills.
  • Shows initiative with proactive behavior and seeks opportunities.
  • Adaptable, responding effectively to changes and influencing others with strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills for problem resolution and solution finding; solid conflict resolution skills.
  • Financial analytic skills, including cost control.

  • Basic Microsoft Outlook, Project, Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of IT networking principles.

Education & Experience

College degree, trade school or equivalent experience. Preferred: Associate’s degree in engineering or related field.

Minimum experience: 3 years of relevant engineering, field service or project management.

Preferred Experience (Not Required)
  • Experience in one or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, building automation and/or AV systems.
  • Previous project supervisory experience.
  • Certifications and licenses: PMI certification; industry‑specific certifications and/or licenses; valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
