Job summary

Gleeds Corporate Services Ltd is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support energy and natural gas pipeline projects in the Virginia Beach area. The role involves coordinating with the client, contractors and internal teams to deliver projects safely, on time and within budget.

You will manage schedules, budgets and risk registers, while reporting progress to senior management and clients. The position isHybrid, with four days in office, located in Virginia Beach, VA.

Qualifications

• Five (5) or more years of project management experience.
• Experience in energy/natural gas sectors and pipeline projects.
• Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders and vendors.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Represent the Owner's interests throughout the project lifecycle and manage project risks.
• Establish project objectives, strategies, scopes and delivery requirements.
• Assist with the qualification and selection of contractors.
• Manage communications and relationships with project stakeholders.
• Meet regularly with program and project team members to review progress, costs, risks and deliverables.
• Prepare and review cost variance reporting.
• Develop, monitor and maintain project schedules and milestones.
• Monitor and expedite project schedules to support timely delivery.
• Coordinate with engineering, construction, procurement and other disciplines to ensure effective project delivery.
• Provide regular project updates to senior management and client stakeholders.

About this opportunity

Location: Virginia Beach, VA

Schedule: Hybrid, 4 days in office, Monday–Thursday

Gleeds is an independent global construction consultancy, specializing in Program and Project Management, Project Controls and Strategic Advisory.

We are currently seeking an experienced Project Manager to support one of our key clients in the Virginia Beach area. This role will focus on supporting natural gas transmission, pipeline construction and integrity management projects across Virginia and the surrounding region.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects from initial development through delivery, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within scope and within budget. The role will involve working closely with the client, contractors, project teams and other key stakeholders to manage project performance and mitigate risks.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Represent the Owner's interests throughout the project lifecycle and manage project risks to minimize exposure.
• Establish project objectives, strategies, scopes and delivery requirements.
• Assist with the qualification and selection of contractors.
• Manage communications and relationships with project stakeholders.
• Meet regularly with program and project team members to review progress, costs, risks and key deliverables.
• Support estimate development and refinement throughout the project lifecycle.
• Apply a thorough understanding of cost management practices to monitor project performance.
• Prepare and review cost variance reporting.
• Manage multi-year projects against annualized budgets and approved funding.
• Develop, monitor and maintain project schedules, progress updates and key delivery milestones.
• Monitor and expedite project schedules to support timely delivery.
• Track project resource requirements and availability.
• Coordinate with engineering, construction, procurement and other project disciplines to ensure effective project delivery.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget.
• Review, evaluate and approve change orders in accordance with project and client requirements.
• Identify and manage project risks, issues and opportunities.
• Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, reports and project records.
• Provide regular project updates and reporting to senior management and client stakeholders.
• Support continuous improvement of project management processes and practices.

Who we’re looking for:

Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills

• Experience within the Energy and/or Natural Gas sectors.
• Experience with pipeline construction and/or pipeline integrity management.
• Five (5) or more years of project management experience.
• Experience managing project teams and coordinating multiple project stakeholders.
• Experience managing budgets, costs, schedules and project delivery.
• Strong understanding of project controls and cost management practices.
• Experience managing contractors and third-party vendors.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines effectively.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with technology and project management tools, including Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
• Experience working with transmission, pipeline or utility infrastructure projects is highly desirable

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
