Job Overview:
Responsible for overall planning and execution of land surveying projects to ensure that the goals of the project are met for both the client and for Zenatech inc.
The role is in full-time capacity in our Spokane WA office. This is an on-site role.
Key Responsibilities:
Management and Administration:
- Prepare project agreements and work orders
- Prepare and monitor project budgets
- Prepare subconsultant agreements and coordinate work with subconsultants.
- Understand and enforce company safety policy; promote safe work habits.
- Review and assist in timely preparation of client invoices.
- Assist in employee development and provide regular employee performance reviews.
Business Development:
- Search out and follow up on leads for project opportunities.
- Maintain contact with previous clients and develop contacts for new work.
- Direct or assist in the preparation of proposals.
Project Management:
- Prepare and implement project management plan for each project.
- Develop, monitor and update project schedules.
- Develop, implement and monitor short range and long range staffing plans.
- Provide staff with productive, challenging and billable assignments.
- Provide supervision, leadership, direction and guidance to project staff.
- Develop and implement solutions to survey and boundary issues.
- Coordinate with other corporate functions – Administration, Planning, Engineering.
- Provide for project quality assurance/quality control in compliance with land surveying standards and agency requirements.
- Track project submittals and correspondence.
- Maintain thorough written project documentation.
Client Care and Communications:
- Keep client informed of project through regular written and oral communication.
- Meet with client to determine client's needs and that those needs are being met.
- Represent client at all meetings involving the project.
- Maintain liaison with all agencies or organizations involved in the project.
Land Surveying:
- Boundary and ALTA/NSPS land title surveys
- Topographic and as-built surveys
- Construction staking and control surveys
- Legal descriptions and record of survey preparation
- Subdivision and plat preparation
- Quantity and construction cost estimates
- Specifications and bid documents
- Coordination with utility companies and other agencies
Qualifications:
- College level surveying/geomatics courses; BS in Surveying, Geomatics, or related field preferred
- 5 years minimum in land surveying, public works infrastructure, boundary and topographic survey projects, and crew supervision.
- Understanding of surveying principles, boundary law and legal descriptions, GPS/GNSS and conventional survey equipment, contract specifications, working with public agencies, management and supervision.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and survey data processing software (e.g., Trimble Business Center, Carlson Survey) preferred; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook a plus. Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license, or ability to obtain one, a plus.
