Electric Machinery Company, a division of WEG Electric Corp., located in Minneapolis, MN, seeks a Project Manager to lead and direct development and execution of projects from order receipt to contract fulfillment. You will act as the single point of contact for customers and coordinate cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities include creating project plans, setting milestones, reviewing contracts, and maintaining risk strategies while traveling up to 5% as required.

Qualifications

  • Four-year degree in Project Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Experience managing full-cycle projects is preferred but not required.
  • Strong customer interaction and relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel; familiarity with MS Project.
  • Knowledge of industry standards (NEMA, IEEE, IEC, ISO 9001, OSHA) is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain project plans with cross-department support.
  • Set an activity schedule with milestones and enter orders into ERP.
  • Review customer PO/Contract requirements and documentation.
  • Assist in hand-over with Marketing/Sales (Application Engineer).
  • Keep upper management informed of orders progression and risks.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies and contingency plans.
  • Coordinate customer inspections and testing/documentation.
  • Manage customer surveys and solicit feedback.
  • Travel up to 5% for site visits; other duties as needed.

Project Manager

Department: Project Management

Primary Objective of Position:

Leads and directs development and execution of projects (from receipt of order to fulfillment of the contract). Ensures customer satisfaction, develops relationships, protects the Company’s position, and maximizes the project objectives (quality, financial, and schedule). Acts as the single point of contact with customers on projects and is the project subject matter expert internally.

Major Areas of Accountability:
  • Creates and maintains the Project Plans; ensures necessary support is obtained from Engineering, Purchasing, Production, and other departments to meet the project objectives and/or milestones.
  • Establish a schedule of activities leading to the completion of the contract with clear milestones, deliverables and defined acceptance criteria; enter order into ERP system.
  • Reviews customer Purchase Order/Contract requirements (Proposal, C&E’s, Specifications, Contract File, etc.).
  • Participates in the Hand-over process with the Marketing/Sales Dept. (Application Engineer).
  • Responsible to keep upper management informed of orders progression and highlights any major concerns or risks, issues or opportunities as they arise.
  • Develops and implements risk management strategies, proactively identifying potential risks, mitigation plans, and contingency strategies to ensure successful project execution.
  • Coordinates customer inspections for factory acceptance testing or other inspections; ensuring in-process, functional, final/acceptance, and customer witness testing is performed and documented.
  • Manages Customer Surveys; proactively solicits timely feedback.
  • Willing to travel up to 5% of the time to visit customer and vendor sites as required.
    Other duties may be assigned by management to meet business needs.
Education
  • Four (4) year degree in Project Management, Engineering or other relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience managing full-cycle projects is preferred but not required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong customer interaction and relationship management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, ensuring clear and professional exchanges with customers, management, and project teams.
  • Proven leadership and decision-making abilities, with a high degree of personal and professional ethics and integrity.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and work effectively with peers, management, and cross-functional teams.
  • Must be able to meet tight deadlines; handle multiple assignments on a consistent basis and effectively maintain schedules and milestones; efficiently and effectively manage completion of projects.
  • Strong PC skills required, including use of standard MS Office applications. Strong working knowledge of Excel and MS Project required.
  • Technical knowledge in motors, generators, or other rotating machines is a plus, but not required. Familiarity with electrical industrial equipment, power electronics, or rotating machines and how they function within a system is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations (NEMA, IEEE, IEC Nuclear, ISO9001, CE Marking, OSHA, etc.) is helpful but not mandatory. Willingness to learn and adapt to compliance requirements is key.
  • Experience with SAP or other work management software is preferred but not required. Candidates with the ability to quickly learn new systems are encouraged to apply.
Physical Requirements
  • Several tasks require to work in leaning over, extended back position repeatedly, occasionally tight spaces, squatting, and kneeling.
  • Physical ability to travel freely within manufacturing and office facilities. This requires climbing stairs and moving over, around, and about shop machinery. Have the physical ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds unassisted.
  • This position requires working in the office at least 90% of the time, with limited remote work opportunities.
Salary

Starting at $70,000 up to $110,000 depending on experience.
