Job summary

SMARTFOX is seeking a senior Risk and Regulatory project leader in Jersey City, NJ. You will oversee delivery of regulatory initiatives, ensuring requirements are translated into functional IT specifications aligned with corporate goals.

You will coordinate with developers, QA, SMEs, and executives across geographies to drive on-time project completion. Responsibilities include elicitation, analysis, requirements documentation, UAT, training, change-management, and risk/issue reporting to senior

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) required.
  • 10+ years in large financial institutions focusing on regulatory programs.
  • Experience with CCAR, FRTB and risk/regulatory implementations.
  • Strong communication to technical and business stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple initiatives and engage executives/SMEs.

Job description

Oversee delivery of Risk and Regulatory initiatives by managing project scope, timelines, cross‑functional coordination, and stakeholder engagement. Ensure business needs are accurately translated into functional requirements and that implemented solutions align with organizational goals.

Responsibilities
  • Engage with business users for requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation, user acceptance testing, and post‑production support.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams across geographies, including developers, QA, SMEs, and senior management.
  • Conduct root cause analysis, gap analysis, and current‑state vs. future‑state assessments to define optimal solutions.
  • Analyze business processes, recommend improvements, and translate business needs into clear IT requirements.
  • Oversee testing, training, and change‑management activities during project rollout.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on risks, issues, and action plans.
  • Manage complex tasks with minimal supervision and communicate effectively with both business and technical teams.
Skills & Qualifications
  • 10+ years of professional experience in large financial institutions with a focus on regulatory initiatives (CCAR, FRTB, etc).
  • Hands‑on experience with Risk and Regulatory implementations, including support for reporting and related documentation.
  • Strong understanding of Credit Risk, financial instruments, market data sources, trading systems, and risk governance processes.
  • Ability to synthesize complex technical and financial concepts and communicate them clearly to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, multi‑tasking, prioritization, and follow‑through skills with high accountability.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and engage effectively with executives, managers, and SMEs.
  • Knowledge of project management frameworks (Waterfall, Agile) and proficiency with project management and collaboration tools (Jira, MS Project, Confluence, ServiceNow, Visio, Excel).
  • Proficiency in SQL; knowledge of Databricks is desirable.
  • Strong leadership, relationship management, emotional intelligence, and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
  • Understanding of financial operations, MIS, data management, and reporting processes within commercial and investment banking.
  • BA/BS degree required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skil
