Job summary

Tri-City IronWorks in Davenport, IA, seeks a Project Manager to lead steel erection projects, prepare estimates and manage on-site activities. You will coordinate with customers, subcontractors and field teams to ensure design, budget and schedule adherence, with focus on productivity and safety.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in steel construction PM, a BS in Construction Management or related field, and proficiency with MS Office; PM certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management experience in the steel construction industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field.
  • Project Management Certification (preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Provide follow-up regarding status of quoted items, subcontractors, and equipment purchase orders.
  • Attend weekly job meetings (onsite and internally).
  • Supervise total construction effort to ensure project is built per design, budget and schedule; interface with customers, A/E reps and other contractors.
  • Plan, coordinate and supervise on-site functions (scheduling, engineering, material control).
  • Supervise craft workers and/or other contractors as required by the contract.
  • Provide technical assistance, e.g. interpretation of drawings and construction methods.
  • Estimate projects and issue changes orders.
  • Direct and assign manpower and manage rental equipment as needed.
  • Maintain productivity, material/equipment use and contractual performance.

Job description

Tri-City IronWorks is currently seeking a Project Manager for an immediate opening in Davenport, IA. The Project Manager will prepare detailed estimates and manage steel erection projects.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Providing follow up regarding status of quoted items, subcontractors, and equipment purchase orders
  • Attending weekly job meetings (onsite and internally)
  • Supervising total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule (includes interfacing with customer representatives, A-E representatives, other contractors, etc.)
  • Planning, coordinating and supervising on-site functions (scheduling, engineering, material control, and may provide day-to-day direction of on-site administrative staff in accounting, purchasing, etc.)
  • Supervising craft employees and/or other contractors as required by the contract
  • Providing technical assistance, i.e. interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc., as required
  • Estimating of projects
  • Directing and assigning manpower
  • Attaining rental equipment as needed
  • Estimating and issuance of change orders
  • Assuming responsibility for productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the project
  • Fostering and maintaining good morale and positive relationships with field, customers and/or office personnel
  • Participating as a team in calling and selling customers on potential projects
  • Performing additional assignments per management’s direction

This is a full-time position. The days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Maintenance of a good attendance record is a condition of employment at Tri-City IronWorks, a Tri-City Group Company. We expect all employees to be regular and reliable. Excessive absenteeism and excessive adjustment of your standard work schedule are unacceptable per our company expectations.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Project Management within the Steel construction industry
  • Equivalent combination of education/experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field
  • Project Management Certification (preferred)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and Outlook
