Job summary

Chemours is seeking a Project Manager to lead large and small capital projects across sites worldwide, reporting to the Senior Manager — Capital Projects. This role emphasizes safety, quality, and innovation and may be based at various Chemours locations, with proximity to Wilmington, Delaware or Philadelphia, PA for collaboration.

  • Bachelor's degree in any engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years managing capital projects.
  • Minimum 3 years in a chemical plant environment.
  • Minimum 2 years of field construction or contract management.
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Identify project team resources and secure staffing with managers.
  • Ensure team understands roles, responsibilities and deliverables.
  • Establish effective communications with project stakeholders.
  • Lead front-end loading: scopes, estimates, funding requests, schedule, basis.
  • Proactively drive project scope, cost, schedule and resources.
  • Identify deliverables and ensure timely completion with quality.
  • Manage changes within approved budgets per policy.
  • Drive project processes per the Chemours Project System.
  • Lead risk identification/mitigation and problem-solving sessions.
  • Ensure design standards with internal and external resources.

Chemours is seeking a Project Manager to join our growing Capital Execution team. This position report directly to the Senior Manager — Capital Projects.

As a Project Manager (PM), you will lead large/complex and small capital projects across Chemours sites worldwide that will shape the future of our operations and deliver on our commitment to safety, quality, and innovation. This role offers the unique opportunity to work on diverse, high-impact initiatives while collaborating with teams across the globe. This position may be based at various Chemours locations; however, proximity to our headquarters in the Wilmington, Delaware or Philadelphia, PA area —will enable close collaboration with partner teams.

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, leading, and managing all activities associated with executing capital projects. PM’s are expected to have strong project leadership skills and experience to successfully and safely execute projects. The PM is accountable for the total effort, including design, procurement, construction, project controls, estimating, document management and contractor oversight, typically from FEL thru Start-Up. The PM works closely with key stakeholders during early FEL and commissioning/start-up. The PM leads and manages the project execution processes as described in the Chemours Project System.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Is responsible for identifying project team resources and working with appropriate resource managers to secure as well as ensuring that engineering contractor staffing is adequate, to meet project objectives.
  • Ensures all project team members understand and held accountable for their role, responsibilities and expected deliverables.
  • Establish effective communications with the project team to ensure alignment around business objectives, project objectives, and project scopes as well as with the project stakeholders.
  • Leads front-end loading process, including preparation of the project scopes of work, completion of the project estimates, preparation of funding requests and the integrated project schedule, and the development of the production design basis.
  • Proactively drive project scope, cost, schedule and project resources
  • Identify necessary project deliverables and ensure timely completion and sufficient quality
  • Manages changes in the project scope and controls cost within the approved budgets per the project “Management of Change” policy.
  • Drives capital project work processes and practices as described in the Chemours Project System.
  • Leads / facilitates risk identification / mitigation and problem-solving sessions throughout project life to manage schedule, budget, priorities and constraints.
  • Ensures appropriate design standards and agreements with internal and external design resources are followed.
The following is required for this role:
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in any Engineering discipline
  • Minimum 5 years managing capital projects
  • Minimum of 3 years working with a chemical plant environment
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with field construction or contract management
  • Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to execute smaller, less complex projects with limited engagement of supporting resources
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to lead by influence
  • Strong team-building skills
  • Experience in working with engineering/design contractors
  • Experience using project scheduling software
  • Smart engineering/design tools knowledge
  • Fluent use of Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to travel approximately 40% of the time
The following is preferred for this role:
  • Direct report supervisory experience is a plus
  • Plant operations or maintenance experience is a plus

Pay Range (in local currency):

$126,067.00 – $196,980.00
