Job summary

Hoffman Construction Co of America seeks an experienced Project Manager to lead self-performed concrete projects in Boise, ID. You will oversee preconstruction, estimating support, procurement, scheduling, budgeting, contract administration, and closeout to ensure on-time delivery within budget and high quality.

You will coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams, ensuring safety standards and process discipline across all phases.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred; equivalent construction experience accepted.
  • Minimum three years of project management experience in commercial, industrial, civil, or structural concrete construction.
  • Experience with self-performed cast-in-place concrete, formwork, reinforcing steel, embeds, and structural concrete operations preferred.
  • LEED Accreditation or ability to obtain certification within 18-24 months preferred.

Job description

This role serves as the primary leader responsible for the successful planning, execution, financial performance, safety, quality, and completion of self-performed concrete projects. The Project Manager will oversee all phases of project delivery, including preconstruction, estimating support, procurement, engineering coordination, scheduling, budgeting, contract administration, cost control, field operations support, quality management, change management, and project closeout. The position will work closely with Hoffman Construction Company project teams, owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and HSI field personnel to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.

This position requires a strong understanding of cast-in-place concrete construction, formwork systems, reinforcing steel, embedded items, concrete placement operations, productivity management, and self-perform construction practices. The role will be a combination of project site and office work based in Boise, ID.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000 DOE + Incentives

Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership to all functions within Hoffman Structures to support, develop and enhance overall Safety, Quality and Profitability
  • Aligns Hoffman Core Values & Beliefs within all Hoffman Structures operations
  • Coordinates and aligns to share in and promote Hoffman Structures unified vision and team goals
  • Facilitate the Pre-Construction process including estimating, insurance/bonding needs, scheduling, material pricing & bids, and drawing review/constructability with the assigned pre-construction team.
  • Thoroughly understands contract type, scope of work, schedule, project specific requirements, and mockups for assigned projects
  • Responsible for pricing all DRB’s/RFI’s and/or work with the estimating team to price changes to submit to HCC within required timelines.
  • Maintain a cost tracking log and work with the HCC project manager on monthly basis to ensure changes are being approved prior to starting work.
  • Works closely with the Hoffman Construction Project Manager to ensure all scope gaps, change order costs are captured and addressed in timely manner
  • Prepare / Provide monthly cost report (MCR). Present / Review with HSI executive team prior to submission
  • Oversees the HSI engineering needs/department for assigned projects (staffing sized to fit project needs)
  • Review and approve material invoices and sub-tier billings (including Third Party Detailing)
  • Submit billings per the Hoffman schedule
  • Attend appropriate HCC safety, coordination, and schedule meetings as necessary
  • Attend weekly HSI check-in and claiming meetings
  • Submit complete and vetted claim sheet weekly. If reliant on Project Engineer for quantity claiming, then accountable P.M will review and coach P.E to ensure accuracy.
  • Establish and facilitate 180 Review meetings with HSI and HCC Project teams at 0%, 30%, 60% and 90% of completion
  • Ensure project schedule, budget and quality is met. Notify and engage the HSI executive team as necessary
  • Facilitate reviews of claim sheet performance, material budgets and project goal setting with
  • HSI Superintendent and Project Engineer as necessary to maintain alignment
  • Coordinate with the Safety Department to maintain safety standards and procedures throughout the project.
  • Participates in development and review of HRA's / Workplans and assist wherever possible to develop clear planning and communication of critical activities in the field
  • Ensures quality is being performed to the highest level, quality control plans are submitted and followed, and track any costs associated with quality issues.
  • Coordinates with Safety Director, General Superintendent, Superintendent and Project Engineers on safety, quality, production, and schedule goals for individual projects
  • Advocate Leadership, Innovation, Planning, Communication and Accountability to advance the HSI Culture
  • Be the technical advisor at the onsite field construction office.
  • Estimate budgets for projects, assist with managing project staffing, and oversee billing and schedule of values formation.
Professional Experience and Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred; equivalent construction experience may be substituted.
  • Minimum three (3) years of project management experience in commercial, industrial, civil, or structural concrete construction preferred.
  • Specific experience managing self-performed cast-in-place concrete, formwork, reinforcing steel, embeds, and structural concrete operations strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience managing multiple project phases from preconstruction through closeout.
  • LEED Accreditation or the ability to obtain certification within 18-24 months preferred.
Required Skills
  • Strong knowledge of self-performed concrete construction means, methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Understanding of formwork systems, rebar installation, concrete placement operations, concrete quality requirements, and sequencing strategies.
  • Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point and Teams), and have a general understanding of working within a computer network.
  • Experience with project management software such as Prolog, Procore, E-Builder, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and Primavera Project Planner (P6).
  • Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks.
  • Training in design and construction document reading, design specifications, survey theory and techniques.
  • Experience in organizing technical data in a neat and accurate method. Familiar with CSI specification system for construction,
  • Experience with field and personnel management.
  • Highly developed visual observation and interpretation skills.
  • Ability to work well and maintain a cooperative attitude through high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work while frequently interrupted by phone calls and questions on work in progress.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to work closely with variety of trade and craft people in a field work situation. Patience and professionalism are essential.
  • Must be a strong team player with the ability to collaborate with various personnel within and across departments and at all levels of leadership.
  • Work schedule must be flexible to allow extended hours or off-shift work to accommodate changing construction schedule and sequences.
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Standing/Walking/Sitting: Workday is a combination of being stationary and moving about the work location.
  • Must be able to climb stairs: Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, and temporary access systems.
  • Hands/Arms: Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. Frequently operates machinery and will use hands/fingers and legs to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect and position materials.
  • Sight: Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus in an outdoor environment. Must be able to safely operate a vehicle with a valid driver's license.
  • Hearing: Must be able to work in proximity to loud equipment more than 75% of the time. Must be able to wear hearing protection as necessary.
  • Speech: Ability to communicate laws, ordinances, plans, regulations, protocols, directives, and standard operating procedures related to project scope in English.
  • Lift/Carry: Must have the ability to lift or manipulate 50 pounds to a height of 3 feet, and carry or push it 50-100 feet.
  • Bending/Twisting: Frequent.
  • Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: Must be able to regularly position self in a kneeling, crouching or crawling position for the purpose of examining project work.
  • Must use independent judgment, and organizational and problem-solving skills to determine best method to accomplish desired results.
