Responsibilities

Job Title: Data Center Project Manager

The Data Center Project Manager serves as a key technical resource within high-performance data center facilities, leading complex projects that span electrical, mechanical, controls, and architectural disciplines. In this role, you oversee the full lifecycle of critical infrastructure projects from planning and design through execution and completion ensuring alignment with organizational strategy, operational reliability, and safety standards. You work both independently and as part of multi-disciplinary teams to design, develop, and deploy innovative solutions that improve data center performance, address operational challenges, and enhance facility capabilities across electrical systems, mechanical systems, fire detection, and building automation.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of data center projects, ensuring consistency with organizational strategy, commitments, and goals.
  • Serve as the primary project owner across all disciplines, including electrical, mechanical, controls, and architectural, maintaining technical oversight and quality standards.
  • Act as a technical resource within data center facilities, leveraging a fundamental understanding of critical systems to identify areas for improvement and drive optimization initiatives.
  • Design, develop, and deploy innovative solutions to address operational challenges in data centers and comparable critical infrastructure environments.
  • Review, interpret, and validate engineering documentation, electrical diagrams, and standard operating procedures to support safe and efficient project execution.
  • Oversee contractors and on-site construction trades (mechanical, electrical, general), ensuring adherence to specifications, timelines, safety requirements, and quality expectations.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projectstypically 3 to 12 at a timevarying in size and scope, while effectively prioritizing based on capacity, safety, availability, and structural needs.
  • Support and deliver projects within the Critical Projects Infrastructure (CPI) framework, including capacity-driven projects, safety enhancements, availability improvements, and structural renovations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant building codes and regulations, including Life Safety standards and guidelines from BOCA, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA.
  • Read and interpret construction specifications and drawings across all domains related to data center construction and critical infrastructure.
  • Collaborate closely with operations, engineering, and contractor teams to coordinate work, resolve issues, and maintain continuous operational readiness.
  • Utilize strong judgment and decision-making skills to balance technical trade-offs, incorporate stakeholder feedback, and evaluate opportunistic new ideas that improve project outcomes.
  • Drive project schedules and milestones, proactively addressing risks, constraints, and dependencies to meet deadlines and deliver on commitments.
  • Maintain a fast-paced, execution-focused approach that emphasizes safety, reliability, and high accountability in an operational facility environment.
  • Contribute to a culture of ownership and problem-solving by identifying operational challenges, proposing solutions, and following through on implementation and verification.
Essential Skills
  • At least 5 years of construction or project management experience in complex infrastructure environments.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing projects in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure in an operational space, such as facilities with 24/7 emergency backup systems, manufacturing (semiconductor, automotive, medical equipment, clean rooms), mass transportation (freight or passenger rail), oil and gas, utilities, hospitals, or similar industries.
  • At least 5 years of experience in on-site construction trades, including mechanical, electrical, and general construction, with direct vendor and contractor management responsibilities.
  • Strong project management skills with a proven track record of successful project execution in data centers or critical infrastructure settings.
  • Knowledge of critical data center equipment and systems, including power distribution and mechanical cooling systems.
  • Ability to understand and discuss technical concepts with both internal and external stakeholders, and to manage trade-offs in complex technical environments.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering documentation, electrical diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations, including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction specifications and drawings for all domains related to data center construction.
  • Demonstrated ability to work proactively and independently, meet deadlines, and deliver on projects and tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams and with contractors, operations, and engineering partners.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of experience in the technical field of power distribution and data center mechanical cooling systems.
  • BA/BS degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a similar technical discipline is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate feedback from a variety of stakeholders and evaluate new ideas that can improve project performance and operational efficiency.
  • Significant experience delivering results in environments where precision, speed, and sound judgment are critical.
  • Comfort operating in an execution-focused culture with high visibility and accountability for project outcomes.
  • Motivation to take ownership of complex problems, drive solutions, and deliver visible impact in critical infrastructure settings.

Work Environment

This role is fully on-site in an operational data center facility, working closely with contractors, operations teams, and engineering partners in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment. The standard work schedule runs from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., aligned with construction and infrastructure activity, with overtime required at times based on project timelines and milestones. The team culture is collaborative and execution-focused, emphasizing safety, reliability, and continuous improvement. You will spend significant time in active construction and operational areas, interacting daily with skilled trades and technical stakeholders, and working with critical data center equipment, power distribution systems, mechanical cooling infrastructure, fire detection systems, and building automation technologies.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Berwick, PA.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $80.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
