Job summary

Ames Construction in the United States is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead large-scale mechanical construction projects. The role focuses on safety, quality, schedule, and cost control, with responsibility for coordinating with owners, engineers, and subcontractors to deliver complex infrastructure programs.

You will manage project plans, oversee procurement, and drive continuous improvement while mentoring team members and upholding Ames' standards of performance and integrity.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in project management overseeing large and complex mechanical construction projects.
• 5 years of experience on heavy industrial projects preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Blue Beam, Outlook; knowledge of Procore, AutoCAD, ECMS and P6 desired.
• Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication with all levels of Ames' personnel, clients, and subcontractors.
• Problem solving and analytical skills.
• Team-oriented with a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
• Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Lead and enforce adherence to contract, work plans, safety, quality and environmental plans.
• Lead project team to meet or exceed estimates, company goals, and initiatives.
• Understand project specifications, estimates, budgets, inclusions, exclusions and procurement.
• Ensure project estimates, schedules, constructability reviews, value engineering and oversight meet safety and quality priorities.
• Maintain relationships with team members, owners, engineers, consultants, subcontractors and local community.
• Liaise with authorities and regulatory agencies.
• Develop and manage project work plans that meet contract requirements.
• Manage project schedule including procurement lead times, resources, costs and schedule recovery.
• Review and negotiate change orders and assess cost/schedule impacts.
• Oversee weekly labor and equipment reports and monthly progress/performance reports.
• Coordinate with Equipment and Operations managers on utilization and tracking.
• Forecast workload per company guidelines.
• Review subcontracts and major purchase orders for execution.
• Oversee startup and project close-out processes.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Provide job assignments and lead career development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Lead the project team in the establishment and achievement of goals to meet and/or exceed all estimates, company goals and initiatives.
• Fully understand the project specifications, estimate, budget, assumptions, inclusions, exclusions for the general contract, subcontracts, and material suppliers
• Responsible for ensuring that all assigned project estimates, schedules, constructability reviews, value engineering, procurement, oversight and execution are completed with safety, quality, and environmental constraints as priorities.
• Maintain excellent relationships with team members, owners, engineers, consultants, subcontractors and the local community.
• Liaise with authorities and regulatory agencies.
• Responsible for all construction work plans that meets and/or exceeds the requirements of the contract documents for all assigned projects.
• Responsible for the project schedule including procurement lead times, resources, costs, short interval schedules, schedule impact analysis and schedule improvement techniques.
• Review and implement project recovery plans as needed.
• Prepare and negotiate change orders including processing and assessing cost and schedule impacts, and preparation of claims.
• Oversee weekly labor and equipment reports, and monthly progress/performance reports for owners/clients.
• Collaborate with Equipment, and Operations managers to maintain required equipment utilization and tracking
• Job forecasting per company guidelines and accounting practices
• Review and compile pay applications and labor, equipment, and material cost reports to complete forecasts
• Oversee the approval all project invoices.
• Oversee the approval of daily time cards for all project team members.
• Review subcontracts and major purchase orders for execution
• Oversee and enforce all processes and procedures that support startup and the project close-out phase.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Provide job assignments and lead career development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience on heavy industrial projects preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Blue Beam, Outlook, and related software programs. Knowledge of Procore Auto CAD, ECMS and P6 desired.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize workload.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of Ames' personnel, clients, and subcontractors.
• Problem solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work well in a group environment and foster a team approach.
• Highly detail-oriented.
• Must be self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency.
• Must have a valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
