Job summary

IES Communications seeks a Project Lead - OSP to act as on-site coordinator and crew supervisor for voice and data installation projects. You will ensure project completion meets safety and quality standards while maximizing staff efficiency.

You will guide inspections, oversee radios/air monitors, and coordinate with the Project Manager to ensure productivity and budget compliance. Expect to produce as-built docs and lead safety meetings as required.

Qualifications

  • Must read blueprints and conduit maps.
  • Minimum three years in telecommunications or related technical field.
  • Must be able to terminate fiber.
  • Must have at least six months supervisory/managerial experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project).
  • Able to travel within branch/regional territory as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Act as on-site coordinator and crew supervisor for voice and data installation projects.

  • Lead major project crews and provide training; ensure adherence to safety and quality guidelines.

Job Summary

The Project Lead - OSP will act as the on-site coordinator and crew supervisor for voice and data installation projects. The Project Lead - OSP’s task will be to ensure job completion according to company and customer quality and safety requirements while maintaining the efficiency of the staff assigned to the project.

Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • The Project Lead - OSP will guide daily inspections and all confined space equipment.
  • The Project Lead - OSP will oversee all radios and air monitors for projects.
  • The Project Lead - OSP will Keep the worksite clean and organized free from unnecessary hazards.
  • The Project Lead - OSP will consistently run major project crews; assume responsibility for effective performance and provide necessary training; assume responsibility for adherence to Company and customer safety and quality guidelines and hold weekly safety meetings; initiate performance related communications and elevate to Project Manager if necessary.
  • The Project Lead - OSP will determine best practices for multiple vendor products including MAXCELL, Innerduct & various types of cabling.
  • The Project Lead - OSP coordinates with Project Manager to ensure productivity, job completion and compliance with project budget.
  • The Project Lead - OSP will provide "as built" documentation used to identify all materials, labor, equipment and tooling used on projects, invoice customer, show proof of satisfactory completion of project and provide or update final "formal" documentation as required by the project specifications.
  • The Project Lead - OSP will perform quality checks; prepare red-lined as-built drawings.
  • The Project Lead - OSP serves in conjunction with the OSP Superintendent as the main on-site customer contact for questions and/or concerns; attend facility and constructions meetings when required.
  • The Project Lead - OSP will fully complete all IES paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers and others as required).
  • The Project Lead - OSP performs work consistently demonstrating a detailed level of technical knowledge; troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise.
  • The Project Lead - OSP will complete other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • The OSP Lead Technician must be efficient in reading blueprints of conduit maps.
  • The OSP Lead Technician must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional and help create, develop and implement project process improvement(s).
  • The OSP Technician I must withstand prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching; crouching, crawling, pulling and shoveling.
  • The OSP Technician I must be able to work in an outdoor (heat, rain, snow, etc) or indoor construction work environment.
  • The OSP Lead Technician must promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners.
  • The OSP Lead Technician must be able to act as the Company liaison for interface with customer representative(s).
  • The OSP Lead Technician must possess proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s).
  • The OSP Lead Technician must be able to work at heights, off a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
  • The OSP Lead Technician must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.
  • The OSP Lead Technician must be able to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
Tools
  • Tools: screwdriver (regular and Phillips), torpedo level, tape measure, snips (with belt sheath), pliers (needle nose and channel locks), hammer, cable stripper, flashlight and gloves. Muck boots/water boots.
Education, Certification, License, And Skill Requirements
  • Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Must possess a minimum of three (3) years of experience in telecommunications or related technical field.
  • Must be able to terminate fiber.
  • Must possess a minimum of six (6) months of supervisory and/or managerial experience.
  • Must possess and be able to effectively use the tools listed above.
  • Must have proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
  • Must know the universal communications color codes.
  • Must possess and be proficient with the listed tools
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project).
  • Must meet Company minimum driving standards.
