Job summary

BUCH Co is seeking a Project Intern to support the Project Manager, Project Engineer and Superintendent across multiple locations. The role focuses on construction administration, scheduling and documentation in a collaborative team environment.

You will gain hands-on experience coordinating RFIs/submittals, updating drawings, and preparing closeout materials while promoting a safe, compliant site and quality outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or related field.
  • Strong organizational, time-management and communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with construction documentation and project controls software.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project team with construction administration tasks and document distribution.
  • Coordinate submittals and RFIs to keep schedules on track.
  • Assist in development and maintenance of project schedules.
  • Support preparation of closeout documents and warranties.
  • Promote safety and environmental responsibility on projects.

The Project Intern is responsible for assisting the Project Team, specifically the Project Manager, Project Engineer and Project Superintendent with all efforts required to manage construction projects safely, on time, within budget, and to the quality standards expected by our clients. The Project Intern will primarily assist the Project Engineer with construction administration tasks coordinating, receiving, reviewing and distributing information and authorizations necessary for the successful completion of projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Project Intern will conduct business operations from the office, the field, or likely a combination of both. They will be responsible for:

  • Knowing and understanding that there are inherent risks and hazards of the construction industry. The safety of each and every person on site is of supreme importance. Promoting and maintaining a safe project site, and monitoring and enforcing the Buch Safety Program in accordance with Buch policies and all federal, state, and local laws is paramount;
  • Providing operational support in all phases of the project, preconstruction, construction, and closeout;
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of project schedules;
  • Coordinating, reviewing, and tracking submittals and RFI’s to ensure schedules are maintained;
  • Incorporating submittal and RFI responses, and drawing revisions into the construction documents to ensure a complete and current set is available at all times;
  • Preparing closeout documents consisting of as-built record drawings, operations and maintenance manuals, and warranties;
  • Assisting with environmentally responsible and sustainable construction.

Qualifications & Required Skills

The Project Intern should be actively pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or a related field or equivalent field experience.

The Project Intern should be organized with an ability to properly manage their time by prioritizing tasks. They should be analytical and possess critical thinking and problem-solving skills. They should possess strong communication skills, both verbal and writing, and be able to interact and collaborate with coworkers, clients, and outside vendors to provide quality work. They should be self-motivated and committed. They should show initiative to learn and grow.

The Project Intern must be proficient in the use of computers and other similar technology, and should be experienced in the use of various software applications, such as MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, P6, and have the capability to learn new software applications specific to the industry, such as those necessary for estimating, project management, and project controls.
