Job summary

Arcadis is seeking an experienced Industrial Water Wastewater Process Engineer to join our IWTO team. The role supports projects across the United States with a hybrid work model; opportunities for travel up to 25% and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams to implement advanced treatment solutions.

The candidate will design, analyze, and optimize water and wastewater processes, mentor junior staff, and contribute to study through commissioning and operation.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop process design drawings, specifications, calculations, plans for industrial water projects.

• Prepare and present technical deliverables to clients and for professional meetings.

Role description:

Arcadis’ Industrial Water Treatment and Optimization (IWTO) team is seeking an experienced Industrial Water Wastewater Process Engineer with 7+ years of consulting engineering experience to contribute to our expanding portfolio of industrial water and wastewater related design projects.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Function as the process engineer on industrial water/wastewater projects
• Apply processes and technologies for physical/chemical primary treatment, biological treatment, membrane treatment, adsorption, filtration, disinfection, thermal evaporation and crystallization
• Receive technical mentoring and guidance from a senior process engineer
• Delegate engineering or scientific calculations/ drawings to junior staff
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary design teams to implement complex treatment solutions, and Support implementation of projects from study phase through design, construction, startup and commissioning, and operation and maintenance of treatment systems

This is a hybrid position supporting client facilities and projects throughout the United States, with occasional international travel opportunities. Candidates residing in one of the following locations are preferred but not required: Raleigh, NC; Atlanta, GA; Tampa, FL; Indianapolis, IN; Novi, MI; Philadelphia, PA; Denver, CO; Dallas, TX; and Houston, TX.

This role is an immediate hiring priority for the team.

Role accountabilities:

The Industrial Water Wastewater Process Engineer should have an understanding of industrial wastewater treatment systems with experience designing water and wastewater projects and preparing construction documents, including mechanical drawings, P&IDs, specifications, control narratives, technical reports, and O&M manuals. Proficient in performing engineering calculations using tools such as Excel and Mathcad, developing equipment and piping specifications, coordinating within multidisciplinary project teams, and providing guidance and mentorship to early-career engineers.

• Assist in developing and preparing process design drawings, specifications, calculations, plans, and other technical deliverables for a variety of industrial water projects,
• Field work will be required, including but not limited to, surveys/data gathering, construction quality assurance, inspections, bench- and pilot-scale treatability testing at client sites or in our lab, etc.
• Assist with system commissioning and start-up, including training plant staff
• Prepare and make presentations to clients and for professional meetings
• Manage projects as necessary to meet both client and Arcadis’ expectations
• Supporting business development including proposal preparation and meetings with clients
• Travel as needed for meetings, site visits, etc. (up to 25%)

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering
• 7+ years of progressively increasing responsibility in the industrial water/wastewater field

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in engineering or a related field of study with focus on wastewater treatment process engineering
• Professional engineer registration in one or more states
