  • Plan and oversee field investigations, groundwater monitoring, aquifer testing, sampling, and subcontractor activities.
  • Prepare technical reports, work plans, proposals, cost estimates, and client deliverables.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and client communications for project execution.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and regulatory agencies to develop practical solutions.
  • Support business development by preparing proposals and strengthening client relationships.
  • Mentor junior staff through technical guidance, field oversight, and project support.

Project Hydrogeologist (Finance)

Tetra Tech is currently seeking a Hydrogeologist out of our Superior, CO office. The Geologist/Hydrogeologist supports a wide range of hydrogeologic and environmental consulting projects involving groundwater resources, numerical groundwater modeling, environmental site characterization, remediation, and water resources. The position combines technical analysis, field oversight, project management, and client interaction, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop practical, technically sound solutions for commercial, industrial, mining, and public-sector clients.

Essential Job Functions
  • Manage hydrogeologic and environmental projects involving groundwater resources, groundwater modeling, site characterization, and remediation.
  • Develop hydrogeologic conceptual site models and interpret geologic, hydrogeologic, hydraulic, and environmental data.
  • Develop, calibrate, and apply numerical groundwater flow models to support technical evaluations and project decision‑making.
  • Plan and oversee field investigations, groundwater monitoring, aquifer testing, sampling, and subcontractor activities.
  • Prepare technical reports, work plans, proposals, cost estimates, and client deliverables.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and client communications to support successful project execution.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams and regulatory agencies to develop practical technical solutions.
  • Support business development by preparing proposals, strengthening client relationships, and identifying follow‑on opportunities.
  • Mentor junior staff through technical guidance, field oversight, and project support.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Geology or Environmental Science.
  • 3 - 8 years of experience.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Sound technical judgment and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments.
  • Ability to use a computer and standard office equipment for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and in writing.
  • Client‑focused with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous professional development.
  • SHA 40-hour HAZWOPER required (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  • A Pre‑employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree (MS) or PhD in hydrogeology related field.
  • Professional Geologist (P.G./R.G.) preferred or the ability to obtain professional registration within 1-2 years preferred.
  • MSHA training preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment weighing 40 lbs in variable weather and terrain.
  • Ability to travel and perform field work/oversight as required (approx. 25% required).
  • Ability to safely traverse uneven terrain at industrial, mining, construction, commercial, and environmental project sites in all weather conditions ( extreme hot/cold temperatures, loud noises, heavy equipment, drilling operations, and other site hazards).
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, steel‑toed boots, and high‑visibility clothing.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors
  • Field work will include work to be performed outside at construction and well drilling sites, as a result may include working in various environmental factors (weather, altitude, terrain, noise, etc.). This can include remaining stationary for long periods of time, walking, bending, lifting, and sitting for site assessments, sampling, oversight, and other field activities.
  • Office work will include extended periods sitting or standing at a desk and using a computer.
  • Based out of our Superior, CO office with the potential of a hybrid work arrangement, but the candidate must reside within 20 miles of the local office. This arrangement is subject to review and may change at the company's discretion.
Additional Information
  • Full‑time, Monday through Friday work schedule (40 hours). Occasionally extended hours may be required based on project and/or client needs.
  • Work will be performed in an office, field, and client site setting.

Target salary range: $70,000 to $80,000. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.
