Job summary

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, at least 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, and a Professional Engineering license in Texas. Our team specializes in foundations, underground construction, and more, making this position a key role within our Geotechnical Dams & Hydraulics Team.

The salary range for this role is $120,000 - $150,000 and comes with a comprehensive benefits package including wellness programs and a 401(k) savings plan.

Job description

GFT is seeking a Senior Project Geotechnical Engineer - Project Manager to join our team in Texas. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at various Texas locations or a remote opportunity depending on location.

Overview

GFT's Geotechnical Dams & Hydraulics Team specializes in foundations, underground construction, earth structures including dams and levees, groundwater resources, and marginal building sites. Our geotechnical engineers and geologists also specialize in landslides, sinkholes, mine subsidence, seepage, expansive soils, and seismic activity.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and determine scope, resources, schedule, and budget requirements for major and/or complex projects.
  • Independently design and lead major projects.
  • Assist in leading multiple large projects with multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors.
  • Apply extensive knowledge of principles to evaluate, select, and implement techniques, procedures, and analyses.
  • Perform construction support services, including bid assistance, construction observation, coordination with contractors/inspectors/agencies, managing field changes, and closing out projects.
  • Review completed project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
  • Conduct business development to build a book of business, generate leads, pursue new opportunities, and develop new markets/clients.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams for project pursuit and capture.
  • Build and maintain client relationships, identify client needs, manage expectations, and assist with risk evaluation and asset management.
  • Develop new techniques and/or improved processes.
  • Assist in project meetings and present specific aspects of engineering assignments.
  • Represent the organization in communications and conferences pertinent to engineering assignments.
  • Assign tasks to and direct junior consultants and technicians.
  • Assist senior management in implementing business programs and manage organizational programs under direction of senior management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • 10 or more years of increasing responsibility and experience in geotechnical engineering.
  • Experience in TXDOT project management.
  • Professional Engineering license in Texas.
  • Knowledge of GDH practices applied to foundation design, seismic hazard evaluation, liquefaction assessment, slope stability, and seepage analysis.
  • Proficiency in reviewing and preparing reports, plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E).
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Office, and similar computer programs.
  • Knowledge of specialized computer analysis programs such as FLAC, GeoStudio, Mathcad, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Science Degree.
  • Knowledge of landslide stabilization.
Compensation

The salary range for this role is $120,000 - $150,000, dependent upon experience and geographic location.
