Job summary

GeoEngineers in Guam seeks a Project Geotechnical Engineer to manage diverse geotechnical projects in the Pacific region. You will perform analyses, oversee field explorations, and lead technical reporting and client communications.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree (Geotechnical focus preferred), 3+ years of experience, and a PE or Engineering Geologist license. Travel to sites and federal installations may be required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required; Master’s degree with a Geotechnical Engineering focus strongly preferred.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience required.
  • PE or Engineering Geologist license required.
  • Professional-level verbal and written communication skills are a must.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Able to visit and enter military and non-military secure federal installations after background checks.

  • Perform field exploration and observation of earthwork and foundation construction to understand soil conditions and geotechnical issues.
  • Prepare field reports and conduct geotechnical analyses (slope stability, bearing capacity, settlement, deep foundations, seismic).
  • Lead field exploration programs and construction observation, ensuring work aligns with plans and safety guidelines.
  • Assist with training and mentoring junior staff.
  • Lead preparation of technical reports and assist senior staff on larger reports and figures.
  • Lead project management tasks including meetings, budget/schedule planning, staffing, and proposal development.

Project Geotechnical Engineer – Pacific Region
Location: Guam | Type: Full Time | Department: Geotechnical

As a Project Geotechnical Engineer or Engineering Geologist in the Pacific Region, you will play a key role in managing exciting and technically challenging projects in the Indo-Pacific market! As part of our geotechnical team, your responsibilities will include performing complex engineering analyses and preparing technical reports, overseeing field explorations and construction observation, and conducting technical briefings with field staff. As a project engineer, you will be responsible for completing project management tasks including budgeting, client communications, coordinating internal meetings, mentoring and overseeing the work of junior engineers and field technicians.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for field exploration and observation of earthwork and foundation construction, on projects big and small, to develop an understanding of soil conditions and construction-related geotechnical issues.
  • Responsible for preparing field reports and performing geotechnical analyses such as slope stability, bearing capacity, settlement, deep foundation design, and seismic evaluation.
  • Leads or coordinates the development and implementation of field exploration programs and construction observation projects. Ensures that work performed is consistent with project plans and specifications as well as in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Assist with training and mentoring junior staff.
  • Lead the generation of technical reports including completion of routine reports, figures, tables, etc.; Assist senior staff in completing portions of large, complex reports, figures, tables, etc.
  • Lead project management tasks such as attending project meetings, budget and schedule planning, staffing and task assignments, deliverable preparation, and proposal development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required; Master’s degree with a Geotechnical Engineering focus strongly preferred.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience is required.
  • PE or Engineering Geologist license required.
  • Professional-level verbal and written communication skills are a must.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Able to visit and enter military and non-military secure federal installations upon completion of government background checks

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • All candidates are subject to completing a background check, and reference check.
  • All candidates are required to participate in our medical surveillance program.
  • Ability to perform a wide range of physical activities and do heavy work including exerting up to 50 pounds of force on occasion.
  • Ability to perform consistent work on a PC with prolonged sitting and view of a monitor/screen.
  • Ability to travel for short-term and long-term assignments as needed.

This includes identifying potential safety hazards and reporting them to the designated project manager in a timely manner and participating in project safety briefings. This also includes wearing appropriate safety equipment when working in the field and completing all required health & safety training prior to beginning fieldwork.

Compensation offered will be based on a variety of individual factors, including education and experience, as well as internal equity. GeoEngineers’ salary ranges are reviewed and updated each year, and employees are eligible for pay increases based on individual performance.
