Job summary

Onterris is seeking a Project Geologist to join our environmental team in Wilmington, DE. You will direct and coordinate field efforts for environmental remediation, site assessments, and regulatory investigations, ensuring client expectations are met and projects stay on schedule.

Ideal candidates have at least 5 years in environmental investigations, a geology-related degree, and professional registration (PG) or the ability to obtain it within a year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related field.
• 5+ years’ experience performing environmental investigations and leading field efforts.
• Professional Registration (PG) or ability to obtain within one year is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license, ability to travel and obtain security clearance at federal installations.
• Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and ArcGIS.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate field efforts for environmental investigations (PA/SI/RI) and remedial investigations.
• Perform site visits, field observations, and data collection for RCRA/CERCLA and state cleanup programs.
• Direct field staff performing sampling of groundwater, soil, and other media.
• Lead planning of environmental investigations and analyze data to identify gaps.
• Supervise subcontractors and field personnel conducting surveys and remediation.
• Prepare reports, maps, and visuals to support project recommendations.
• Interface with federal, municipal, and private clients on projects.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow safety rules; participate in improvements.
• Keep up-to-date on industry trends via training and publications.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

A Day in the Life

Our Project Geologist position is located in Wilmington, DE. The Project Geologist directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organizing, control, integration, and completion of projects within area of assigned responsibility – Environmental Remediation, Site Assessment (Phase I and Phase II), RCRA/CERCLA/Brownfield Investigations, and Environmental Site Monitoring. The Project Geologist is experienced in managing environmental projects at the field operational level, and supervising field teams and subcontractors managing both the internal team performance and client expectations. The compensation range for this role is $75,000 to $95,000, commensurate with experience and skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement field efforts related to environmental investigation including Preliminary Assessments, Site Inspections, and Remedial Investigations.


• Perform site visits, field observations, and field data collection related to RCRA, CERCLA, and state environmental cleanup programs.


• Coordinate and direct field staff performing sampling of groundwater, soil, and other environmental media


• Lead and direct the planning of environmental investigations and provide analysis and interpretation of data to identify data gaps and recommend changes to the investigative approach.


• Supervise subcontractors and field personnel performing geophysical surveys, direct push/drilling investigations, and implementation of environmental remediation.


• Prepare reports, tables, maps, drawings, and visual aids to evaluate, plan and obtain regulatory approval on project recommendations.


• Interface with federal, municipal, and private sector clients pertaining to specific projects/tasks.


• Maintain confidentiality at all times


• Exercise safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs Participate in the company’s continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts


• Keep up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attend professional workshops


• Perform other duties as assigned.
