Job summary

Hughes Brothers Construction is a heavy civil contractor serving Central Florida. The Project Estimator will prepare estimates for site development and heavy civil projects, including residential, industrial and municipal work.

Responsibilities include analyzing RFPs and specs, soliciting bids, performing quantity takeoffs with AGTEK, coordinating with CAD, visiting sites, attending pre-bid meetings, and producing RFIs and bid exhibits.

Qualifications

• Experience with site development and heavy civil construction preferred (earthwork, utilities, road infrastructure).
• Proficiency with HCSS Heavy Bid, AGTEK and Bluebeam.
• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management a plus.
• Ability to establish positive relationships with stakeholders, vendors and subcontractors.
• Team-oriented with mentoring capability.

Responsibilities

• Analyze RFPs, RFQs, and construction documents to validate project requirements.
• Solicit bids for materials and subcontractors to prepare a complete estimate.
• Perform quantity and material take-offs using AGTEK and identify missing information.
• Coordinate with CAD technicians for timely take-offs and bids.
• Visit project sites to assess conditions and identify potential issues.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and prepare RFIs as needed.
• Prepare itemized estimates using HCSS Heavy Bid and related exhibits.
• Coordinate with Project Managers on change orders and year-end close-outs.
• Manage bid document control for successful transfer to PM department.
