Under the guidance of the Chief Estimator, you will uphold estimating standards, manage bid schedules, and transfer finalized estimates to the Project Management team after contracts are secured. A strong analytical mindset and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Project Estimator in commercial roofing or related construction.
• Strong knowledge of roofing systems, materials and construction processes.
• Familiarity with estimating software and databases, Edge Estimating Data Base preferred.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow estimating standards and collaborate with the Chief Estimator for cost information updates and complex projects.
• Review and select cost-effective roofing solutions meeting client objectives and codes.
• Oversee bid calendar with Take-off team and Account Executive to manage timelines and follow-ups.
• Ensure proper sign-off on high-value bids with Chief Estimator and VPs as needed.
• Transfer detailed estimates to Project Management after contract acquisition and support during project initiation.
• Participate in ongoing training to stay ahead of industry trends, permitting, and manufacturers.

This role is pivotal in sustaining our business growth and enhancing our profitability through providing exceptional estimates on construction roofing projects and service roofing projects.

Role Overview:

The Project Estimator plays a crucial role in Best Roofing, working closely under the guidance of the Chief Estimator. The primary purpose of this position is to perform value engineering to propose the most competitive and effective roofing solutions, aiming to address our clients' roofing needs comprehensively. The role involves adhering to and enhancing estimating standards, ensuring the selection of cost-effective roofing systems, and managing bid schedules efficiently. This position supports the company’s pricing objectives and contributes significantly to our success by securing profitable contracts through accurate and strategic estimating processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Follow established estimating standards and processes, collaborate with the Chief Estimator for cost information updates, and consult on complex projects to ensure realistic and competitive estimates.
• Select cost-effective solutions that meet client objectives, review structural requirements, adhere to codes and manufacturer specifications, and offer value‑engineering options to optimize client investments.
• Work with the Take‑off team and Account Executive to oversee the bid calendar, communicate any delays promptly, and keep the bid follow‑up system up to date.
• Ensure proper sign‑off on projects over specific thresholds, collaborating with the Chief Estimator, and other VPs as required to secure approval on high‑value bids.
• Efficiently transfer detailed estimates to the Project Management team after contract acquisition, participating in thorough project initiation meetings to refine estimates and develop production budgets.
• Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to stay ahead of industry trends, permitting, and manufacturers while maintaining the company’s competitive edge.

How We Measure Success:

• Achievement of individual estimating targets contributing to the construction department's gross profit objectives.
• Consistent delivery of accurate and competitive estimates, as measured by personal estimating activity metrics.
• Conversion of bids into secured contracts, demonstrating effectiveness in estimating and client negotiations.

• Proven experience as a Project Estimator in commercial roofing or a related construction field.
• Strong understanding of roofing systems, materials, and construction processes preferred.
• Familiarity with estimating software and databases, specifically the Edge Estimating Data Base preferred or strong technical background required.
• Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
