Job summary

YKK AP America Inc. in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Cost Estimator to analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare cost recaps and estimates for products, projects, or services.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate's degree or equivalent in construction or estimating with 1–3 years of related experience, the ability to read architectural drawings, and strong MS Office skills. Familiarity with Bluebeam and AutoCAD is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviews data to determine material take-off requirements and prepares itemized lists.
• Computes cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work; preparing bids; selecting vendors or subcontractors; and determining cost effectiveness.
• Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
• Interfaces with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimates.

Summary:

The purpose of this position is to analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare cost recaps and estimates for products, projects, or services by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Reviews data to determine material take-off requirements and prepares itemized lists
• Computes cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work; preparing bids; selecting vendors or subcontractors; and determining cost effectiveness
• Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
• Interfaces with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimates

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Education/Experience:

• Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in construction or estimating plus 1 - 3 years of related experience in commercial glazing, commercial construction, residential construction, building facade or architectural aluminum industry; combination of education, certifications and experience may be considered
• Must be able to read architectural drawings and understand specifications
• Must be familiar with Microsoft Office
• Familiarity with Bluebeam and/or Autocad is preferred
• Quality - conscious, oriented to excellence

Physical Demands:

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and is expected to use proper lifting techniques at all times. Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision.
