Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Project Engineering Manager for Water & Wastewater to lead complex municipal projects across multiple locations, including design-build and other delivery methods.

You will manage budgets, schedules, and diverse teams, mentor staff, and contribute to business development while ensuring technical excellence and client satisfaction across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
• Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screening, motor vehicle records search).

Opportunity

As the Project Engineering Manager for Water & Wastewater, you will manage execution of the engineering component of multiple traditional, design‑build, design‑bid‑build, and collaborative delivery projects including advanced treatment facilities, underground conveyance, and carbon neutral solutions.

In this role, you will:

• Lead a multi‑discipline team of engineers and technicians on high profile municipal projects.
• Supervise and mentor engineering staff, identifying developmental growth opportunities.
• Manage budgets, scheduling, and correspondence with clients and project management to support project success.
• Prepare complex engineering deliverables for large or multiple projects.
• Assist in research to develop equipment and material recommendations.
• Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements across multiple disciplines.
• Lead production teams, coordinate multiple discipline activities, and serve as the responsible charge for a project.
• Identify key client interests, communicate concerns to the team, and develop solutions.
• Provide support for business development or pursuit activities.
• Manage client changes directly with project manager oversight.
• Drive solutions to achieve project goals.
• Review lower‑level engineering work or assignments.
• Mentor and manage performance of assigned personnel.

Preferred Qualifications

• PE license.
• Experience executing multi‑discipline WTP and WWTP upgrades and expansion projects.

Work Environment / Physical Demands
