Job summary

Xcel Energy in Colorado is offering an internship designed to give you hands-on experience in project management within Energy Supply. You will work under supervision to support capital project management, coordinate resources, and help prepare materials for construction and training.

You will gain exposure to coal, simple cycle, combined cycle, hydroelectric, and wind facilities while developing technical expertise and professional skills in a real-world utility setting.

Qualifications

• Current student, junior or higher (as of Fall 2027).
• Enrolled in ABET-accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in BS Mechanical, Civil, Environmental, or Electrical Engineering.
• Occassional day-trips to power plants within Colorado.

Responsibilities

• Support management of existing capital projects
• Develop relationships with plant personnel
• Promote safety first for onsite activities related to capital projects
• Red-line drawings for systems worked on through capital projects
• Develop notifications, work orders, and purchase requisitions in SAP
• Develop schedules for assigned projects
• Lead project update meetings with mentorship and supervision

With oversight from experienced supervisors and mentors, interns may provide input for project design, coordinate resources for construction activities, update training materials for Base Capital, and develop technical expertise for project management for generation facilities. Intern will gain exposure to coal, simple cycle, combined cycle, hydroelectric, and/or wind site facilities and their operation.Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to:-Support management of existing capital projects-Develop relationships with plant personnel-Promote safety first for onsite activities related to capital projects-Red-line drawings for systems worked on through capital projects-Develop notifications, work orders, and purchase requistions in SAP-Develop schedules for assigned projects-Lead project update meetings with mentorship and supervisionThis position is for a May 24, 2027 start date.
