RK&K is currently hiring a Water Resources Engineer to work in our Roanoke, VA office. The Engineer should have experience with some or all of the following areas to support municipal and transportation project designs: Stormwater Management, Erosion and Sediment Control, Hydrology & Hydraulics Design, Floodplain/Scour Modeling, and Watershed Studies, for various exciting projects throughout Virginia and surrounding States.
Essential Function
- Develop, evaluate, and design stormwater management facilities to support municipal and transportation infrastructure projects across RK&K's vast portfolio
- Analyze and model stormwater conveyance systems and storage designs
- Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) design of culverts, bridges and dams and produce engineering drawings for stormwater control BMPs
- 1D and 2D Floodplain analysis using HEC-RAS and PCSWMM
- Attend and present project status updates at client meetings; Provide excellent client services with a focus on quality and timeliness
- Meet and work directly with other design team members including project manager, project engineers, design technicians, drafters, surveyors, contractors, inspectors, public agency officials, and clients
- Develop civil engineering plans using AutoDesk Civil3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads and GIS while applying knowledge of local, state, and federal design standards
- Perform field investigations to collect data, field measurements, photographs, sketches, and verify surveys as needed
- Provide office and site visit support for projects in construction
- Lead tasks, plan budgets, manage subcontractors
Required Skills and Experience
- B.S. in Civil / Environmental Engineering or similar field
- Four (4) years of experience in Water Resources Engineering
- E.I.T. registration minimum requirement
- MicroStation and/or AutoCAD experience
- Candidates will work in a diverse and challenging environment and must be capable of working on and coordinating simultaneous tasks and have ability to coordinate technical matters with public and private entities
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Registered P.E. highly preferred
- HEC-RAS and/or PCSWMM experience
- Civil3D/ORD experience
- Pondpack, HydroCAD, or similar stormwater routing software
