Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a Project Engineer (Water/Wastewater Infrastructure Design) to join the Southern California Resilience Water Team. You will lead design efforts for distribution/collection systems, pump stations and treatment facilities, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver sustainable water solutions.

Ideal candidates have 6+ years in municipal water projects, a Civil/Environmental/Mechanical degree, and strong technical writing and coordination skills.

Qualifications

  • Six years of experience in engineering and consulting, municipal water market.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or related field.
  • PE license in California is preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage design/construction of water/wastewater distribution systems, pumps, and treatment plants.
  • Develop design/construction documents, reports, memos, and specs.
  • Support construction administration and ensure processes follow guidelines.
  • Collaborate with multi-discipline teams and travel to project sites as needed.

Collaborating with other experienced Water Professionals, you will support, manage, and drive development of projects, interact and work with clients, and develop your technical and professional capabilities.Role accountabilities:In this role, you will independently manage tasks and projects for the design and construction of Water/Wastewater distribution/collection systems, pump/lift stations, and/or treatment plants.Other responsibilities of this role include assisting with the development of design and construction documents, such as reports, technical memoranda, and specifications, to ensure projects are planned and executed effectively. The individual will provide support in the construction administration of projects, ensuring that processes are managed efficiently and align with established guidelines. Collaboration with multi-discipline teams is a key aspect of the position, requiring strong communication and coordination skills to achieve project objectives.Some local travel may be required for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, general planning purposes or to oversee construction activities, depending on project staffing needs.Qualifications & Experience:Required Qualifications6 years of experience in engineering and consulting, primarily related to the municipal water market.Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or related field.Key Skills and AbilitiesStrong knowledge of water and wastewater design and construction.Ability to lead engineering tasks and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams.Strong technical writing, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, hydraulic modeling software, and Bluebeam.The ideal candidate will have the ability to prepare technical reports, develop design solutions, and collaborate effectively with project teams to deliver high-quality engineering services.Preferred QualificationsPE license in California.Experience providing engineering services during construction.Master of Science or Master of Engineering degree in a related field.Active participation in regional and/or national professional associations.The ideal candidate will have experience in supporting municipal water and wastewater clients, preparing design calculations, construction plans, specifications, and technical reports, and contributing to project delivery through progressively responsible engineering roles.
